110 ball run by some Russian

Sergey went to play on this table (with pretty generous pockets) with intention to record a 200 run. That's basically his goal now. He almost hit that, setting his new videotaped high run of 142. No wonder - wihle practicing he runs about 70 or 80 almost every time. He feels he improved the way he reads the table and problem solving, so it omstly depends on the break. If it works everything else goes naturally.

Comments are welcome

Thanks for sharing the video !!!

the one thing i notice is that he runs into other balls alot, creating new and late problems, several times throughout the run it makes him work a lot harder than he would have to.

again thanks for sharing, and please continue to post the videos along his journey !!

thanks

I have only watched a couple racks so far. I will probably watch the rest on the ride home tonight. I noticed him running into balls already. In the first rack, when he shoots the 7, the cue ball goes down to the bottom rail, and bumps the 12 into break shot position, but he barely has a shot to shoot. And this is with 12 balls left on the table and usable break shots on the other side. Then at the end of the second rack, with 5 balls left, he shoots the 6 and bumps his only break ball, the 9, too low. Luckily, he also bumped the one on that shot and it becomes a break shot.

He does shoot awfully straight and seems to prefer the center of the pocket.

I think his mistake was not breaking up that little two ball cluster on the end rail when he had opportunities earlier. Still... very nice shooting.

And that could be a pool room nearly anywhere... almost empty.

Two things I noticed were he likes to draw the ball on break shots and on a below the rack break shot with the ball on the rail he hits the corner ball on the same side as the break ball instead of drawing back for the corner ball nearest to where he is standing.

Not criticizing him, just his preference I guess.

thanks everyone for the notes, will be helpful fo Sergey in future for sure.
Nice run. What kind of cues are popular in Russia? Do they use cues from local cuemakers or production?
There are few local cuemakers who make pool cues, to mention the best of them are Dmitry Komarov (goes as DBK here) and Andrey Gorbenko (learned from Dieckman which speaks for itself). So production cues are used mostly, a decade ago it was Viking all over, then Predator took their [lion] share, now Lucasi have gained popularity.
Nikitin has been shooting with Predator 314 shaft for pretty long time, and now he uses some Predator cue. Currently he uses Black King (S) tip ;)

yep that's a 9-footer.
poolmouse, thanks for your review. Little I know about straight pool so far... From my point of view, Nikitin's cue ball control in regard with 14.1 is very good :o Seems like that's compared to mine only. Unfortunately it is very hard to learn good straight pool here because we have zero experienced players who really know this game. Stepanov is good, Chinakhov plays good 14.1 too but I think you would call his game 9 ball style as well. I would never make that call for real, but it might be the most knowledgeable player here in straight pool is myself because I read every source of info, watch tapes, etc. And come here regularly of course, that's invaluable source of advice! Only my execution $ucks big time :frown:
In the beginning of the year Nikitin browsed through Phl Capelle's PYBSP which helped him a lot. So there is noone to learn from. I was hoping to meet Schmidt but he decided not to go to Manila. I met Hohmann twice but never managed to get a lesson. So we are on a long road here, huh.
I will tell Sergey your opinion, he would make some conclusions for good I think.

I'd say that if he were to study Rempe's How to run a rack and How to run 100, Sigel's Perfect Straight Pool and Run Out Straight Pool, Capelle's Play your best straight pool and listen to some Danny Diliberto lessons, he might be able to improve his straight pool game.

Well,

Nikitin improved a lot in the last year. In my opinion he really has not that much to change on his game. Sometimes just a bit more going for angles- imo he just try s sometimes to make *pinpoint positions* -and if he missed those, he s *a bit* in trouble.

I really think he is on a really good way. Just mentally problem i think. He plays really strong. Keeping it a bit more simple and he can be for sure a guy who will constantly run 100 balls.

just my humble opinion,

Thanks, I've seen DBK cues for sale but never knew who made them.

Well,

i for myself also typed something here. But i would say, that the comments of me have been just simple observations (like *seems to me* etc. ).

But don t you all think, that some advices here are more kind of funny? This player runs constantly high-runs daily. And i don t think reading a book or watching *instructional material* would bring him really a new understanding..........he s already a great player.
The only thing which could help him now is to meet perhaps to practice with excellent players/champions-nothing else.
To recommend this guy to watch instructional video makes me a bit smiling...

Just my serious and humble opinion.

instead of creating a new thread I just continue here. Though when a milestone is reached there will be time to start a new one :) Russian pro Sergey Nikitin set a goal for this year, to run 200+.
Long story short, on September 17 he ran 196!!! That's third best for Russian players (shared with Stepanov). Chinakhov has smth over 200, Pruchai - 198.
196 is 14 racks, the run ended with a miss on the break. According to Sergey, he missed it by a mile ;) Later on the week he ran something around 168, don't recall the number. I'm looking forward to the day when he's back videotaping his attempts.

I just want to know if I can get a Tshirt from a Russian pool hall
unfortunately the industry of apparel and accessories is way too far from being developed enough. I could make some inquiries but I'm not sure there are many halls which have their own t-shirt designs. Mostly suppose it to be just a name of the club in cyrillic
