14.1 Running a 100 without Qball touching a rail?

Dont know if this is who you are thinking of but Johnny Ervolino used to run the 100 balls without cueball hitting a rail. ....
Can you describe how Johnny got through the racks? What kind of break shots did he leave? Did he have a lot of break shots into the side? Did he bank many balls?

Thanks for any info.

What are the chances if getting through all those break shots without at least one object ball being close enough to a rail that you can't get on the correct side of it to NOT hit the cushion when playing that ball? In fact, it's probably a 100% probability that at least one OB will freeze to a cushion.

I suppose there would be ways to work around these situations by moving them away from the cushions, but that increases the difficulty exponentially because now you have to move many balls that normally wouldn't be problems.

Then bank the object ball. My understanding of the proposition bet is a single 14.1 rack from the break shot and the cue ball never touches a cushion. It's OK for object balls to touch cushions.

Maybe a proposition bet where the shooter gets numerous tries to run one rack

No way possible to run 100 balls that way... If you say you saw it you must have stopped off at a cow pasture to pick up some mushrooms on your way to the pool hall

No way, not going to happen, impossible

My post wasn't about some prop bet. I was posting about running 100 without going to a rail - the topic of this thread.

Well, if no ball at all is ever permitted to touch a cushion, the break shot is going to be a real challenge. But the topic of this thread (which you can check above) is, in fact, "14.1 Running a 100 without Qball touching a rail?"

Well OK then....

NOT POSSIBLE

Never happened , never will happen

Ever

On a related topic... Is it possible to shoot a round of 18 in golf?

Right, running 100 and the cue ball doesn't contact a rail. Who said the object balls couldn't touch a rail? Not me.

There are two answers to this. Leon Yonders had a record of something like 150 balls without the cue ball touching a cushion, ...
Well, not quite. Evidently Leon ran 180 of standard 14.1 shooting behind his back. He also did the rather remarkable feat of running 100 behind his back and without the cue ball touching a cushion. Here is the write-up in Knuchell's book "How to Win at Pocket Billiards":

But not in 14.1 continuous fashion.

Yonders must have been something. I remember Hal Houle speaking in amazement regarding what Yonders did the time Hal saw him play.

Pretty cool but not 14.1 ... "the Jim Rempe brain wash drill BUT behind your back!" I have tried to get past 100 doing the drill but always make an error in the 4th or 5th rack... must be the pressure...:)
