The pool players will run out of money and stakehorses before this tour ever pays out a nickel in prize money to anyone other than their hand-selected few. Many will attack me for saying this, and I'd like to be proven wrong over time, but I don't expect there to be a 2007 season. The tour seems to be expecting too much revenue from the players themselves and that's money that pool players just don't have. My guess is that interest will drop in the qualifiers as people find it tougher and tougher to come up with a $1500 entry fee. Players can buy in for half, but why would anyone do that? To win half the money if they do get in? To not have their money/points count for anything if they do happen to get in the main event? Please excuse me if I'm not excited about the I.P.T.
