I actually think you meant to say the cue was made in 1967. The model was called the Champion and it is part of Viking first Catalog from 1967.

Great cue and good luck with you sale!!

My mistake, I was going off the information from the owner.

Do you know what all they did to it? It looks like they made new points?

i'm glad that i'm not the only one that is confused..... No way those are the original points...... Unless they had a time machine.

Maybe Viking had an early CNC machine........or maybe not. Whatever they did, it is a really sweet looking cue, even with the rounded points. If Viking had a retro line, this one would make perfect sense.

the cue is cool, would be a great fit for a retro line......

I'm curious as to what work viking did to the cue. I looked through the info i had here, and no viking that old that i have come across has rounded points. They were one of the first companies to use the cnc for cues, but not in 67

I asked the owner about the cue and he stated the points had come out of the cue and viking replaced them. I believe with a new forearm. He stated the work he had done by viking cost him $500. He will take $1150.00 for the cue bottom price.

That explains that, The hard reality however is that most of the value as a rare vintage cue is gone. it was probably worth more before he had it repaired than it is now. Its a neat cue, but it would be hard to get that for a pristine original.

jayman, you said that very nicely.

Some of us would have been more blunt, but you got it.

Dead-on, Jay. Now, it is a "retro" cue, not the true classic that it once was. Beautiful cue, but not in the same vein as the true cue would have been. I am sure Viking still has the capability to build spliced points. It really amazes me that they would have made, or even suggested, this as a repair.

Replaced forearm for 5 bills  Yea I believe it .. I agree with Jay (and everyone else) Your vintage value is gone . While Viking made and makes some good cues you might want to recheck the cues value . Even refinishing a vintage cue detracts from it's value let alone whats been done to this one .

At $1,150 firm, he'll be married to that cue for a lot longer. It's a beautiful cue. I would've loved to have had it in original condition.
