Actually Lebron went off at 20-1 odds and the next highest odds on any player was 8-1. That proved to be an opportunity to good to pass up. ;)

hum,
it has been done before,
it is said that history repeats itself,
in this world, to create legal entertainment money.
Then came along fargorate with something about making odds,
how can the pieces not come together?

Casinos not forming something on the order of a jockey club that is 100%
responsible for its members character and performance backed up by its state gaming laws.

Casino's, states, are always looking for ways to collect money,
it will happen in some form.
I like the odds, well um, what are the odds?
50 on the black.

This does seem to prove that the casino was willing to keep taking bets after '91.

It does not prove that the dump didn't happen, or that Mike LeBron's odds weren't 20:1.

Also, do any casinos that host events offer this sort of betting opportunity today?
If not, there's got to be a reason, right?

US Open odds-making.....?

Seeing that MR is running the show now is it safe to assume that all the matches will be up on the board?? With 256 players there could be all kinds of crazy-ass bets.

Interesting question. When Matchroom were running the World Nine Ball Championships in Cardiff, Wales, there was a bookmaker at the event and you could bet on any match. I didn't look closely at the bets available, but the same bookie offers snooker bets like which color will be potted first in a particular frame.

There will be only one match at a time in Vegas towards the end, so it cries out for unusual bets.

There was betting at some of the tournaments I went to in I want to say the 90s but my memory is so all over the place it could have been 60s, but I remember thinking to myself , I wonder if this is on the square.
One match I'm pretty sure I got my answer, a famous player is playing and murdering his opponent the bookie came and sat in the seats right next to where they are playing and loudly clears his throat as the guy smashing the other is shooting , he makes the 5 ball , the guy blows his nose on the next shot down goes the 6 ball , he moves around in the seats like he is looking for something, causing the whole bleachers to start moving around and down goes the 7 ball. As our great player is down shooting the 8 ball straight in the guy throws his clipboard and all his crap right down beside the bleachers , acting like he dropped it , lol, it sounded like a cannon went off , great player looks up , sees the guy , gets back down to shoot , gets back up and thinks a minute and shoots the eight ball into the rail 4 inches from the pocket.
Maybe people think I am cynical, and it was all on the level , but I didn't spend 60 years in pool rooms to doubt my instincts.
I will be amazed, if at least one person from here, wasn't there when it happened.
The bets were mostly , Player X does or doesn't reach a certain score, so I figured the player who shot the ball into the rail was ok to win , but the other player needed to get to say 7or 9 for the bookie to win the crowds money
I would love to hear from the guy who was shooting !
