Get it right!!! Its Playstation or XBOX.MrLucky said:They work two jobs to make ends meet and their children are left to be raised by TV and nintendo!
I did not say or imply the culprits are not to blame ! somehow you took my post as saying something it did not! my first sentence was ..."These incidents are popping up all over the place, our youth are out of control !"... I blame parents for not being parents." how does this in any way imply that the kids are not to be taken to task for thier wrongs ? I stated it starts with the parents lack of being a good parent and teaching, disclipling and loving their children!Drew said:Kids these days. Damn that MTV. MrLucky, you said something that kind of disturbs me. You implied that we should not blame the kids. The main problem with kids these days is that they are no longer being held accountable. People are quick to blame the parents, the media, or some mysterious mental illness. But the fact is that kids know the difference between right and wrong. I'm not letting the parents off the hook. They're the main reason kids have no respect for authority or punishment. But let's be honest with ourselves. Not every child is an innocent angel. I'll be the first to admit that I had absolutely no respect for the rules growing up. Although I feel my parents were the best I could have asked for, I always felt I was above the law until I came face to face with it. Some kids just have to learn through experience. Anyway, the article didn't make any reference to the gunmen's ages but we all know that pool halls are not the safist environments in the world. With the alcohol, gambling, and minimal security, there will always be some risk of an incident. We as a community need work to change this. Otherwise we'll constantly be putting ourselves and our children at risk simply by enjoying a sport.
MrLucky said:What I learned was that it is easy to read the papers or view a news story and blame the kids, blame hip hop and any assorted media villains for the lack of civility and respect for life these kids seem show! But you know what ? I learned that they were just direction less ! they really wanted and needed some one to care about them and to give them direction for the most part! We as adults (at least my generation ) came up in a different world for the most part our families were different we were given love and also were held accountable for our actions and disciplined when we were wrong! Todays parents are afraid to correct their children ! they have been led to believe it is wrong, they have bought into the "spare the rod B.S. and other concepts of child rearing. They work two jobs to make ends meet and their children are left to be raised by TV and nintendo! So the result is what you experienced ! The children want success but do not know have to obtain it! they want respect but were not taught you have to earn it and lastly they want to be loved but were not taught that you must love yourself and others in order to receive it!![]()

I have played at Crown billiards in Utah. The room is an absolute dump (Just some ratty bar boxes). I would also like to add that I wouldn't be surprised that the room owner is partly responsible. She allows bad behavior at her poolroom. Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of gangs/thugs interested in pool in Utah. People who would rather pick a fight than actually play.vagabond said:How about POOL HALL OWNERS sharing part of the blame?![]()
ginsu said:I have played there many times. It's not owned by a woman. It has two sides, one side has6 nine footers and three bar boxes with no beer. The other side serves beer and has four bar boxes and five dart boards. Are you sure your talking about the same place?

I would also like to add that it has been about a year since I have been to Crown billiards so it could have been fixed up in that time. When I said the thing about gang stuff I was referring to Utah in general. Specifically Salt Lake City. The Ritz in SLC has had a few problems with gang violence. A gang member got shot in the testicles by a rival gang at The Ritz about six months ago. Also there was a murder at a Vietnamese pool hall in West Valley. It really breaks my heart to see all this violence in poolhalls.ginsu said:Can't say I disagree. The place is run down and the woman you refer to is about how you describe her. As far as the gang stuff from your first post I don't agree with.
