Guerra Cues

I build one cue at a time

Hey folks,

Just completed two more cues and have more coming in the next few weeks.

First cue is for a friend of mine that wants to remain anonymous.

Olivewood forearm, buttsleeve and buttcap and black ash burl handle.

The black ash burl was harvested by a buddy of mine in Minnesota, very cool stuff.
The joint protector at the time was not wet sanded and buffed yet. Ferrules are old yellow micarta.

Second cue is for Jive, one heck of a friend and super nice guy above all.

Cue has a pomelle bubinga or birdseye bubinga forearm like I usually call it and the handle is some sick curly/quilted maple... Not sure what to call it really, actually the maple came out from a 80 year old maple log that a buddy of mine got in Alaska. I have like 30 pieces of that maple still (yep it's cored).

Jive the 2nd shaft needs a final pass as well I need to clear coat the shafts tonight as well the joint protector. The cue came out of the spray booth looking like this. Only going to start wet sanding at 1500 and buff this bad boy.

Very nice looking set of cue... The olive wood cue looks like there a ghost shadow on the forearm. Look carefully looks like a hoodie with a pair of eyes, where the black dot is. Excellent work there !!! The finish looks really nice. Who ever getting that set of cues getting a treasure.

The 2nd cue looks just as awesome !!!!! Especially the handle, sick sick sick handle with super figures on it !!!!!
Jive, congrats you getting a super looking cue !!!! Enjoy & let me know how it plays

the other day my phone rang
a fella named tommy called to play pool
instead i invited him to come to the house

i thought i would show him some really great cues
and explain a little to him

turns out ,this tommy is about 5 times as knowledable about the fine points as me
maybe 10 times

to the point
he had nice things to say about tony and his cues

i ordered one immediately

the rest is history
look at these cues

quality work
choice woods
a sense of taste and balance

no one can accuse me of being his salesman

i bought one cue
he was making it for himself

did i offer more? did i promise to promote the cues,if i liked them?

did i beg?
did i tell him exactly what i needed to play?

all of the above

these are terrific and I can't wait to get mine in my hands

tony tony tony.......i'm infatuated with you as i write....if you're younger, hotter, better shaped and of the opposite gender i'd be climbing all over you now... then again i never needed a reason to do that :grin-square:

back to the cue...

it looks amazing!!! initially the bubinga was supposed to be the center of attraction..now...that handle just stole everything away! big thanks to tommy...appreciate his help picking out the wood for me!

as for you tony...that's a hell of a job there..i can't wait to be hitting with this baby! anyone still on the fence about working with Tony...he's an awesome guy to work with and you'd better hurry before prices and wait list escalate..

that black ash burl and olive wood looks like a rockstar too...i'd never have come up with that combi...and i see the ghost shadow...that's a cute ghost..more Casper"ish" than "the woman in black"...

Thanks Jive. Thanks everybody else for the kind words.

It has been a learning experience on each cue and I am building a special pj with inlay work, it will be my first inlayed cue and should be done before years end.

I had a lot of pms on the handle of Jive's cue and that maple is Alaskan maple, came from a log that was about 80 years old.

Also became a big fan of the black ash burl. Good looking stuff.

Dean, I should post your cue sometime next week, looks real good ;)

nice looking woods and neat work done on the cues.

I wish I had joined Tony's wait list.

Looks like it will get very long. :(

Looks like the only option to try Tony's cues in the next few years would be to get Jive to bring the cue to Singapore for me to try.

Jive, you get the hint? :p

post mine up
i like to see pictures
if mine is half as nice as these
i will be happy

Dean,
I will post pics when the cue is done. I am not a big fan of cues in progress pics because if something goes wrong on the final pass or finish then the cue goes to the bandsaw.
Torqiet your cue is done, just needs finish and the bumper less button, I will do it on my cnc this weekend.

Thanks Leon.

Your finish advice is out there for everybody to see.

Getting a decent gun helped quite a bit and a local friend of mine help me out on how to properly set the spray gun as well.

What I mean is if something serious goes wrong with the cue before it is done.

I think that the cues when are 100% done create a better impact to the eyes of the players.

Your finish work is stunning as well. Keep up the good work my friend.
