> Whether I am at the pool room when someone like this shows up,or if someone calls me to come play,if the player asks for an even, cheap game like this with no spot-haggling or any of the usual shenanigans,I don't give a shit if they played Alex's speed, they have action, especially if no one else bites. I might only have 3-4 barrels in games like that at times, but they can get it if they can. A guy the older local guys had made out to be a legend came in once, and I was called to come play because no one else would, like normal. I didn't have a lot of cash, but agreed to play 10 a rack just to see what he had. I played well and he might have been stalling, but I got 10 games up and he paid me. We double the bet and go back and forth for about an hour, with the entire population of my town that gave a shit about pool watching me refuse to lay down for this "monster". I eventually put together a 4 rack run and wind up 5 game winner. He pays me off and QUITS. As I am unscrewing my cues,he asks me to play a race to 7 for 10,000,knowing good and well I didn't have that kind of money. I told him flat out "be glad I don't have that kind of roll, cause I'd DAMN SURE SEND IT IN!",in front of 40 people. The next day, when I pointed out that this guy was not only nowhere near the caliber of player they said he was,but he wasn't even the GUY they claimed he was, because that guy lives in Dothan,AL and had suffered a stroke several months before this game took place, they all tried to change their stories. So my point is this,if ANYONE offers to play you this cheap, even if you suspect he might be a world-beater,and you can afford to send it in a few times, and don't,you might be missing out on something, maybe even a single shot you can steal from them, that would make the monetary loss seem like a huge gain.
