2000 and you make breakfast in 12 weeks you get a cue!!

i was with dennis 7 or 8 times , maybe more, starting in '06 to '08
at least a week at a time, sometimes 2 weeks
breakfast? hell, dennis doesnt get up till 1 or 2 pm
i was up at 6am everyday
i was about shot by the time he got rollin'

i didnt have to pay , i was invited .
which i told dennis i wouldnt have anyway even if i had the $$$$, i'd rather learn on my own
when i asked why, he laughed and said he wanted to meet me,
because i reminded him of when he started and that i was a cocky little sob too.

never built a cue for myself while there
did a few, maybe a dozen or so in what i call the "dieckman style",
that is the one piece butt, long 22" bflys , which i no longer do

the infamous burnt pizza incident

Dude!!! All of Dieckman's videos are hysterical! you can't possibly make this guy up. I so want one of his cues just because of his videos. They are absolutely must sees, go to youtube and watch them all, you won't be disappointed. Anyone want to trade a dieckman for a palmer model d? I'm not sure I could do 2 weeks with him, but I'd love to hang and have a few beers and shoot pool with him.

one of the keys to surviving it:grin:
i count 11, the 12th must have been in my hand

the dieckman porch
where everything except world hunger was solved

The Predator LD shaft prototypes and final basic design were made in that shop.

BHQ learned there.

Barenbrugge learned there.

Yes I do man. And I hold very very very few cues. Right now its in a closet with 2 Balabushkas and that's all that's in there.

I remember when Dieckman (and I too) became enthused about cues. It was in the 70s when Carl Conlon started bringing back the revolutionary Helmstetter 3-C Cues from Japan. The original Dieckman's and really all his cues in a way, were off-shoots of that ground-breaking design. I drove to Edward Laubie's somewhere in the 70s with Dennis to investigate buying his business.

I assume the "some things" had to do with butterflies?

Hes the Uncle Si of pool. The video was a little weird at the start, kinda looked like a ghost sighting video but Iam sure he does amazing work. :D

i think there's a pic somewhere on this wall of him

Wow man. That's Carl 2nd from the right top row on one of the 2 Michigan Union Brunswick Anniversary 3-C tables. That's either Dieckman or Joel Welber with his back to him.

I think this is the guy my mother warned me about.... and I know my closet door will be tightly shut when I go to bed tonight...

Dieckman for sale

In response to how do you get one…

I've got one for sale right now… I'm not moving it cheap… it's a great shooting STIFF cue and the shafts are absolutely phenomenal… I just don't shoot with it anymore and someone should enjoy it.

Here's the thread:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=340990&highlight=dieckman

I'd trade it as well, but I'm particular in what I trade it for…

There are a few (not many) others around as well…

-Joe

PS - I think Dennis told me he only made 2 cues with the Black walnut that's in the one I have very unique hit… puts a ton of energy into the shot, very carom like…

PPS - the one original tip has the HARDEST non-phenolic tip I've ever seen… He said he got it from a friend, it was cut from a super thick hide from a water buffalo IIRC :-)

no problem

My family is basically the "clampets" on steroids. I could handle this man no problem. A bit out there.......but hell I've dodged bullets for a lot less. Lol

Ha ha ha! I woulda ran like Forrest Gump! What days you heading to the Derby again? And what kinda beer do I need to bring us?
