2003 Glass City Open

Keith McCready

Pro Player
I am just getting ready for the long drive to Toledo for the Glass City Open. Last year, I came third.

By the looks of the player roster, there's some pretty stiff competition again, and this tournament is so well run, it makes you want to play. I feel like I'm hitting 'em good. So I'm hoping I create a tremor or two up there in Ohio.

As Paul Newman said in the Color of Money, "I am back." So, Toledo, beware. ;)

We are all wishing you the best up there Keith. Looks like you are being picked to do well by a few of the players over at Fantasy9ball.com.

Mike

Mr McCready,

Best of luck in the tournament! Show'em what it's like when an Earthquake hits a table!!!

Jim

Good luck in Toledo. If we feel any tremors in southern Ohio we will know you are making some noise up there.

Watch out for those Ohio players. Last year Joe Brown from Dayton beat Alex the Lion 15-7.

Keith I want to know how you rate danny harriman as far as a world class player or not. I met him in baltimore at the sudden death seven ball. I pretty much knew he wouldnt win the tournament because the field was just to strong. My question is have you ever matched up with him and how do you rate his game, Thanks alot

King Cueball, Danny and I have never really matched up for money, but we have played a couple of times in tournaments.

Danny and I happened to meet each other in the loser's bracket at Glass City and it went hill-hill. I've always known that he breaks the balls well and shoots well, too. He was playing good this week in Toledo. At least the guy that beat me, knocking me out of the tournament, I was glad to see him get as far as he did. As far as being a good player, Danny is a good player.

Your one of the few banger's

There is still a couple of bangers out there like you who believe that I am not a contender. All I can say in response to your question to Keith about me is if the tournament would have been 1 Pocket or Bank I would have probably won the whole 'shubang'. As far as winning the sussen death 7-ball I could have done that also, I'm guessing that 7-ball is probably your kind of game. By the way it was me that knocked Keith out of the Glass City that year when he finished 3rd so I think if I can win agains a player of Keith's calibur than I could easily snap off some invitational 7 ball tournament.
Nice talkin to ya King Cueball banger
sincerely, 'little Danny'

Hi, Danny! :) Actually, the year was 2002 when Keith finished third at the Glass City Open in Toledo, OH. Nick Varner ended up beating Keith in the losers' bracket. Nick Varner and Rodney Morris ended up in the finals.

However, it was at the next GCO in 2003 that you did, indeed, beat Keith, and I had thought it was YOU who finished third place, with Johnny Archer and Kid Delicious in the finals. Last year, it was Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant and Kid Delicious once more in the finals! :)

I was quite impressed with your break at the 2003 GCO, but your most shining moment to date for me was when you made SIX -- count them -- SIX balls on the break playing 7-ball at the ESPN Zone on TV. I have NEVER seen that before on TV, and it was cool!

This year, the Glass City Open will be held at the same hotel, the Clarion, November 9-13, 2005. This is NOT a UPA-sanctioned event, and EVERYBODY is welcome. Looking forward to seeing you there, Danny! :)

Re: to JAM

Yes the year was 2003 but I defeated Basavich in the quarter finals and lost to Archer in the finals, he was asking the ref. to re-rack the balls over and over and used a soft cut-break where the one ended up in the corner every time. I finished 2nd and it was a great event as everyone got paid, I understand that this is an old but very good tournament and was happy that it had been revived. I did not get to attend it last year but I would love for the event to be changed to 10-ball and then the soft break would be exempt, hitting the balls soft and watching the corner ball fly in while the one ball banks one rail and ends up near the corner pocket= redundant. Competing against the best players in the world and watching huge breaks where players make many balls on the break= fun. Even if they do not wake up and continue to play the 9- ball I still look forward to the Glass City Open as it was a well run tournament and I have much respect for the promoters who set this event up. See you in Toledo
Sincerely, Danny

Danny,
You don't need to defend yourself or your playing abilities. You are one of the better up-and-coming players out there and everyone here knows it. The only problem is that we don't get to see you play ENOUGH. Hopefully you can get the sanctioning issues straightened out (if you haven't already) and get cookin'. Don't let a little internet woofin' bother you.....
