2007 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Played in 14.1 Finnish champs this weekend. First matches were races to 75, ran 31,37 and 59 in 3 consecutive matches. Then race to 100 I ran 31 and 35 in one match and 37 in the next one. Quite consistent, nothing fancy. So, my high is 59 at the moment.

I have to keep repeating that to myself every time I think of how low my run is on the list. Thanks for telling it to the others! lol

Please guys don't be shy if you think your run isn't high enough, this is simply about promoting the game of 14.1 and improving your OWN PB.

good finish

I ran 40 and out to win a match today. I intentionally avoided a small cluster so that my last shot left nothing available, in the event of a miss. I was playing for the win, rather than going for a higher run.

Craig, why don't you make a separate list comprised of runs from people who never get to play anymore, lol? Haha, just kidding, but I really haven't played at all this year. The good news is I'm starting to miss it, which hasn't happened to me in a long time...

- Steve <--- seriously starting to get a little ornery. :D

Come on Steve, I haven't had 1 proper session since my last run in January! :p

Better start playing soon, good to hear your getting itchy... feet?

Update my puny score too, Mr. TheSingleDigit ;)

It's 59.

Hello and great to see 14.1 is alive and well , a friend and I just started to play on Sat. afternoons after we both gave up pool many moons ago , I have a 45 playing him and a 50 practicing waiting for him to show last Sat. , which ever one counts please put me on the list. Thanks for the great idea!

Just recently on March 16th I ran 29 on my table with 4 and 1/8" pockets. If I can ever learn how to break better maybe I'll get something more decent! Put me down!

list updated, we broke 60!

mjantti, even updated your excuse ridden effort (I think!) :D

PS
Does anyone else think this thread should be a sticky (SJM/Nostroke calm down!!!) in this 14.1 forum?

It would certainly help me keep an eye on it

It would probably help everyone keep an eye on it.

It's great to see so many people participating, now if only I could get a few good sessions in. We should have an impressive list of runs together by the end of the year!

March 25 What a superfantastic day..... ran 26 in the afternoon beating my previous all time highrun of 19 and I saw Eric Clapton play last night with Robert Cray.

I also think this thread should be a sticky.

A suggestion that could be used for self evaluation. The data are somewhat skewed with a few high runs. For this reason one should compare their progress to the group based on the percentage of people in a group.

With 61 people:
Top 10% position 6 or 97 balls
Top 25% position 15 or 67 balls
Top 50% position 31 or 43 balls

50 might be magic but getting in the top 50% is a reasonable goal for most of us. I realize this is not a competition but is fun to have a goal

I had my first 100+ this year in March. It was a 115 in a game to 1000. As usual it was a dumbass mistake that ended the run. Other good runs from that match were 86, 78 and 73.

Still hunting for the 150+ :)

14.1

I’ve been lurking in the shadows and reading this forum for awhile. This straight pool section is especially interesting to me. A few months ago I had to go out on the web and get a copy of the 14.1 rules and try it myself. I’m so addicted that my wife started issuing threats, “If you don’t put that cue down….” Anyway, I have a high run of 30. It happened once, and I know it will happen again if “I don’t put the cue down”. Now if I can find one person in my area that would play, life will be good. If the objective of this thread was to instill interest in 14.1, it worked.

I managed a 28 in feb and a 56 in march. Weak-handed on 4" pockets. Right behind you alinco, watch out.
