2007 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Congrats everyone on the great runs...

This month I've started videotaping my practice sessions. My goal is to get a 100 on tape this year.

I had a couple of 70s, but always messed up to improve my 82 run.

So far I've only recorded 9ball Ghost sessions.. now it's time for some straight pool.

Since you were asking for some vids here's a race to 9 against the ghost which I put up on youtube to test it:

Cheers Karma, try and get your highest run on video and put it on youtube and I'll lick to it from the list.

I played my first straight pool ever today and made a run of 19. Thank God I read BlackJack and Steve Lipsky's threads first before playing because without knowing the Key Ball, Setup Ball and Break Ball concepts there is no way I would have got past the first rack! I have now set my self the goal of 50 for 2007. Thanks to all on this thread for the inspiration to get out there and try something new.

List updated, sorry took a few days guys was in Prague.

Congrats and coolwe have a new forum! :p

Well, I played a 14.1 tourney Sunday the 26th and ran a 59 and out my first match, I just wish I had a chance to complete the run! I left the table with 10 open balls and felt real good! That may have been my 4th 100 ball run. anyway, I guess it's good enough since it was in a tourney...

Gerry

I guess I'll be #50

I ran 38 in a league match Monday night. It's my best for the year, but nothin to brag about. Thirty years is a long time to not play this game. It's coming back to me very slowly.

By the way, I just realized...I AM 50!

Sigh, I'll make an entry with a 48-out unfinished today 7th March. Made on a Olympic table with really tight and unforgiving pockets.

Could've continued, but just made the remaining balls and didn't leave a shot after reaching 75 with so didn't bother going on.

Hello Pool World

I just wanted to take the time to say it was a splendid idea having a section of this forum dedicated to Straight Pool. Many people are to be commended in the effort of keeping this wonderful game alive and well, I am doing my part here in the Midwest and our 14.1 league is growing. I would like to say thanks to Bob Jewett, Charlie Williams with Dragon Promotions, Steve Lipsky, Blackjack, John Schmidt,Wei, and everyone else that has helped promote 14.1. A special thanks to my friend Scott Edwards if it were not for him along with John Boster and Justin Nichols I would have never been able to handle all of the duties that go along with organizing a Handicap Straight Pool League. Scott and I were fortunate enough to have a nice room that keeps up on their equipment and for that I thank Bill, Paul, and Alex of Side Pockets Sports Bar and grille in Blue Springs, MO. In 14.1 you do not have to smash into the rack in hopes that you get lucky and make a ball on the break in order to continue your run. While helping my friend Scott run this League I have learned that like 3-cushion billiards this game does not attract players with huge ego's and bangers, we had a few of those players in the beginning but they were weeded out and replaced by people who truly want to have fun and learn at the same time. If anyone who has participated in our in-house League reads this forum I would like to thank you for playing no matter what skill level you are.
Sincerely, Danny Harriman

Thank YOU, Danny!

Danny - I wholeheartedly agree. I truly enjoy our league. We have a good group of people. And what a pleasure it is for me to play a game I love with a world-class player like you.

Regards,
Steve

List updated, hope I got everyone!

Please guys don't be shy if you think your run isn't high enough, this is simply about promoting the game of 14.1 and improving your OWN PB.

Congrats on the runs, we now have over 50 players on the board!

Craig.....give it a rest with that avatar, man. I mean...come on! There is only one rose, my friend and its a white one!

I used to have so much respect for you, but now, its over, the dream is shattered;)

Has no red in his world. Even the Mcdonalds outside Elland Road had the red removed from the building.

Craig, why don't you make a separate list comprised of runs from people who never get to play anymore, lol? Haha, just kidding, but I really haven't played at all this year. The good news is I'm starting to miss it, which hasn't happened to me in a long time...

- Steve <--- seriously starting to get a little ornery. :D

i missed an incredibly easy 31st ball on an open table to increase this year's high run to 30 balls.

hope this will move me a few spots upwards.... :o
