We don't want a award like this devolving into some douchebag billionaire comming into the DCC one year and losing $1,000,000 in dumbass bets where he is just getting robbed via his own stupidity and then get handed the Louie Roberts trophy.
Are you sure we don't ?

I'm quite sure I don't, but I only have one vote. I think the committee could make sure that that wouldn't happen, but I'd like to think that the voters would never vote that way.

I was there, saw most of the action, and lost much money because of Scooter, God love him. My vote goes to Scooter.

Like was said earlier in the thread, it's not all about the amount of action, it's the "action and entertainment award".

im gonna catch heat for this but I can fade it,

I like ME!!!!!

Scooter and I played $5000 sets for 6 or 7 hours,(we were a team) and lost

played a race to 3 9ball for $3800 in the middle(our end) $6000 total or more-I got beat bad, OUCH!!!

I was the reason the Fatboy Challenge happened, that was action for 16 players totalling $20,000, i put 2 guys in it, one dropped out.

I had alot of $1000+ rail bets, put one guy in the box small so that dosent count,

ANd I promis tooth wouldnt have liked it again!!!!

So tooting my own horn I did bring some action, perhaps not as much noise as some but I MADE things happen, not aslot of woofing(not my style)

Congrats to who ever wins it.

please dont hate on me for pitching my own case, next year when I like have a job or income I will come ALOT bigger, but for tooth I awalys have a brick......tails:thumbup:

Scooter...Hands down....How the kid goes flat broke, pump, flat broke, pump is crazy...When everything had died down for the moment he was in the hall way and put his case 2 hundred in the fire betting he could jump and hit the roof...And he could have busted the whole building cause he got the cash plus a lecture from the security gaurd...Now he has 4 hundred and 2 hours later he had turned it into a 3600 dollar set witch he won...
Give scooter the award..He deserves it....

i look at it this way, who are people gonna be chasing around now becuase of the gamble they saw at dcc...scooter or kirkus? and kirkus will drop another 50k at any time...kirkus is the best action in the southeast by far...im sticking to my original vote as well.

IMO the award should go to the person with the most gamble, not the person with the most money and least brains with how to bet it.

Losing one's shirt and going home with nothing more then the jeans you are wearing should not be a feat that wins you an award with Louie Robert's name attached to it.

We don't want a award like this devolving into some douchebag billionaire comming into the DCC one year and losing $1,000,000 in dumbass bets where he is just getting robbed via his own stupidity and then get handed the Louie Roberts trophy.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. I would love to have 10 millionaires trying to lose more than one another to win the award. That would be the best thing to have happened to pool in a long time. Having said that, Scooter has to get my vote, in the tightest competition ever. I have gambled with both, and both showed a ton of gamble, but Scoot gets the entertainment part hands down. And for the record, at least one of the 10k sets they lost should have been stealing in the Atl boys' favor. That is why they call it gambling! They did donk off quite a bit, but only got into 4 or 5 untenable situations, imo:rolleyes:

I would find that to be an extremely disrespectful thing to the late Louis Roberts to have an award named after him and his gambling spirit and give it to a bunch of good offs who cannot shoot pool and simply come to lose money.

You want an award like don't attach the name of a true legend and gambler in our sport like Louis Roberts, he deserves alot better then that.

My vote goes to sparky ferrel. I think he showed everything that the louie roberts award represents. I think sparky played tough matches and showed heart with it all on the line.....like the niels match ( that I didn't get to finish due to the ppv) :(. Who won anyway?

Answer this honestly-What would Louie rather have had if he was there? Millionaires dumping a ton of money to pool players, or regular players gambling with each other. The answer is pretty simple. The truth is EVERY PLAYER IN THE WORLD(past and present) would love to pump up off of a whale to get the dough to play gambling matches later. And for the record, Kirkus and co. showed true gamble. Sorry if you don't agree, but I don't see how anybody in their right mind could possibly argue that.

Not sure who won, but it says a lot that someone who did gamble as much as Sparkticus wasn't mentioned as a top two candidate. It's almost ridiculous that he is probably going to end up 3rd or 4th, huh?

Have to go with Scooter hands down on this one. Just because someone loses a ton of money doesnt mean they have gamble, it just means they have it to lose so its just entertainment for them. If i had millions losing 50k wouldnt really bother me, id just be putting it in action to keep from getting bored. its not gonna change your life. for some of these young guys the money actually matters a lot when they win or lose, thats true gamble. Nobody is in action or generates more action than scooter.

I don't mind scooter winning it, I thought he was robbed of the award 2 years ago when he pulled off the biggest dump game in the history of the DCC. So congrats scoot, you earned it.

Who said Kirkus had millions, just out of curiosity? Hell, who said he had 250k? Try reading what Vette posted earlier. This is NOT some guy who has millions and just throws it out there. This guy was probably up 6 figures gambling in Atlanta, and not with a bunch of idiots, I promise you. I don't profess to know Jason's financial well-being, but if he has millions, I will happily shave my head. Actually, I will do it if he has one million singular. I just don't understand why a guy gets bar-b-qued for getting into a couple of bad games, and having gamble for a week. The only reason most people might do it is the amount of money he/they lost, and why do you downtalk someone who loses more than average? Just makes no sense to me..........

He is not there, Louis Roberts is dead, so he cannot speak for himself. As such when someone makes an award posthumously in someones honor they should do so with the utmost respect for that person or you seriously should not use his name at all. To date the people who have gained the award are great players with the heart to gamble, they are people Louis would have seen as his peers were he around today as the player he was. People like SVB, Frost, Joyner, Alex, these guys are cut from the same cloth as Louis was.

Scooter not only gambled alot, he showed some heart and skill in his match with Chris Miller.

Think about it, do you give the guy who loses all his money and leaves a loser the Louis Roberts award? Or do you give that award to the guy who is taking home that cash?

Do you give the Louis Roberts award to some guy who goes to DCC, gets spotted the 6 out by a pro and loses tens of thousands? Or do you give the award to that pro himself who exemplifies what Louis Roberts was, giving up the huge spot and out running it for the cash?

If you go for the former of those two we REALLY disagree with what the award should be about and I am pretty sure Louis might feel the same way with an award that has his name attached to it.

The award should go to players/gamblers who exemplify what Louis Roberts himself was, a world class pro pool player with a ton of gamble and the heart of a lion when in action. THAT is the respectful way to treat an award with the man's name on it.

Sorry, I was unaware that the award was for"action and entertainment, as long as you win"
