2009 louie roberts award goes to....?

The award should go to players/gamblers who exemplify what Louis Roberts himself was, a world class pro pool player with a ton of gamble and the heart of a lion when in action. THAT is the respectful way to treat an award with the man's name on it.

I like this post. If the Pro Pool player is a dying breed, I say we give it to a Pro player or someone who is on the cusp of being a pro. The award could help them in the next decade became a greater player for it, with the opportunities it affords the winner. Vote for Sylver or Sparky.

Want to give it to someone that already is a Pro, then I say you vote for EFREN for being apart of the greatest night that the DCC has ever seen, in my mind. Nothing else has even come close (Durbin vs Watson from years ago would be second, but not even close).

should win the award. What better person do I want to see coming back to the DCC year after year, free of charge? No one else even comes close.

I don't mind scooter winning it, I thought he was robbed of the award 2 years ago when he pulled off the biggest dump game in the history of the DCC. So congrats scoot, you earned it.

I don't like this post or at least the subject. Dumping has and always will ruin pool.

SVB would be up there if one was to allow multi-year awards. The guy matched up with a man few will touch for the cash and won. And then he stepped out and played another guy pretty nearly as feared. He was not playing around, he just went straight to the top players and matched up even.

Did Efren do any other gambling while he was there? I did not hear about any, but that one single match was easily the most talked about action for the whole event by a long shot. Throw in some other sets and the guy might be worth a thought. He boggled my mind one year when he offered Tony from the Cue Club in Vegas 9/6 in 1-pocket, and then Tony shocked me by turning it down. Efren would be awesome action if not for the fact very few people want to go anywhere near him with their cash.

It's not even close - Scooter Goodman - if for no other reason than telling everyone to pick a side and he'd bet the other way on everything.

Any fool can bring a crapload of money and back players.

But Scooter stirred up action, he put people in action, and if it did come to a head to head battle then he deserves it because of the three ring circus bet he dreamed up with Jason and his crew.

I changed my mind! Efren should win it. I guess he already has the free entry/free room thing for the All Around wins (doens't he?) but he should still win this simply because he is non stop in action and entertainment, always willing to play a fan and give up the nuts for low dollars, willing to bet tough action, willing to play in mini-tournaments and contests for his fans, and dammit just because.

Sorry Scooter but Watchez is right, the award should go to a professional player who generates the most action and entertainment.

Although, if Efren wins then I think you should be second place and get the free room.

Efren deserves it.

My vote is for Scooter without question. I have had a lot of money bet on and against Scooter over the years, he always gives entertainment with every bet! I always enjoy being around him and his energy! If he could bottle that he would never need to gamble again!

If Scooter doesn't win this year then the criteria of the award needs to be changed. No matter how you look at it NO ONE created more action or entertainment than Scooter this year.

There was virtually no participation in the action room this year by top tier pros due to the schedule of tournament and side events. Basically it was the road men only outside of the two marquis match ups with Shane.

My list of candidates in order:

Shane

Jason Kirkus

John Mars (Because he made the Efren match happen and was in on many others. Plus he entertained the hell out of me. )

Chris Bartram

You want to give it to a pro you have to give it to Shane. He played Efren and Bustamante. Nuff said.

You want to give it to who deserves it this year, you have to give it to Mr. Fred "Scooter" Goodman.
