2012 VA State 9 Ball Championships Aug 4-5 2012

It would be nice if this turny let all the great area players in from surrounding states to make it a true test of the best

Tell ya what would really be great: if all states had a championship solely for their residents and the champs would play for the national championship.

2005...Keith McCready...guess Potomac Maryland is in Virginia or DC !

I think what Walter is saying is that Keith and Jennie (JAM) live in Washington DC. That is also where her business is and where she has lived for years since I have known them.

If they have moved to Maryland since then, they would obviously not be eligible to play.

Does that clear things up?

I hear ya!

I hear what you are saying. I just have always been of the opinion that the State Champion should live in the state that they win the championship for. This is not the first time it has come up.

I have had several folks, tourney players, ask me the same question. When I explain my logic, most agree and then there are some that still gripe and complain.

I had a touring pro want to play. When I explained my logic, he agreed with me totally and said he wished his State Championship did the same. Shout out to my buddy Ronnie Wiseman!

I hope you understand and respect my opinion.

The bottom line is that the one who puts in all of the time and hard work to organize and run a tournament gets to make the rules. It has been decided that this great tournament is only for the residents of Va and DC. End of discusion.

Josh,

How many people are signed up? And is there a deadline? I played in the barbox one, I talked to you with Stephen (I'm Corey from VA Tech). I'm interested in making the 4 hour drive from home, but only if there's gonna be room available. Nothing's certain yet, so I wanted to ask here beforehand.

Thanks!

It always fills. Get your $ in now and assure your spot.

I have never known there to be openings on game day.

State Tournament looks to be a great one!

Like the title says, this year's event is shaping up to be a good one.

Spots are filling up every day, so plan on getting your entry fees in soon.

If you have any questions, send me a pm.

State Tournament almost full

WOW! I went over to the poolroom last night and looked at the list of players and we were at 41, by the time I left, almost 50. By the time I got home and posted that on Facebook, we were over 50.

If you would like to play this year and have not already talked to me, you need to get me a message on here by 3pm today. I will have limited or no access to AZ after that as I will be at the poolroom prepping for tomorrow and will not get back to AZ until late tonight. We may be full by the time I get home tonight.

This year's State Tournament will be a great one.

I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Anyone know how many they got in the tournament? It looks like the stream is not working right now. Thanks in advance

Futrell defends his VA State 9 Ball Title

Congratulations to Christopher Futrell for winning his 2nd VA State 9 Ball Championship! He is one of three champions to win 2 titles and one of two champions to win back-to-back titles. He played great all weekend and his victory is well deserved. I would also like to congratulate Larry Kressel for his 2nd place finish and for making it one fantastic final. Congratulations also goes out to Sheri Phillips Bruner for her "Top female finish in the event. You will all serve us well in the US Open!

I would like to thank the sponsors of the event as well:

Diamond Billiards, Midlothian VA
Simonis Cloth/ Aramith Billiard Balls
Sterling Gaming Products
Brian Keller for his work during the event and once again making the best looking trophies!

Once again, a fine event Mr. Mayor! LOL You and Brian (and all the others) do a great job with this, and I'm sure the players are appreciative. Not a lot of tournaments out there, offering entries into the US Open 9-ball event as part of the prize package! Keep up the good work!

AZBilliards News?

How come the results are not posted in the AZ Billiards News Archive?

Great playing to the both of you. I watched it all day and when it got down to the last 2 games the stream went out :banghead: I waited for a while and it never came back and that sucked. It sure does happen a lot. I hope they get the trouble fixed before the nest tournament. Thanks for the coverage
