There's some cracking matches in the last 64, they could have easily been the final in every other tournament.

Ko vs Shaw
SVB vs Kiamco
Corteza vs Cheng

Indeed, it has to be table 1 and while Group A match is the right one to watch (Ko vs Shaw), it's quite unfortunate they have the Yukio vs Haitao from group B on table 1. No disrespect to that match which is very good, but when you have a certain Wu vs Feijen or SVB vs Kiamco at the same time, it feels somehow secondary...

SVB has had Kiamco's number for years, the last time he beat Shane was at the 2012 Johnny Archer Classic 11 games to 2. In multiple interviews Shane has stated that Kiamco has always been his easiest opponent. You never know with the old warrior though, he tends to go deep into these fields. You're right, would've been a great match for the TV table.

So statistically speaking, our new champion will hail from Taiwan or the Philippines. Sounds good to me. Imagine if Ko repeats? That would be an incredible feat.

Not necessarily, 2013 and 2014 had a ton of asian juggernauts in it but we all knew who won those years.
This just proves that high level competition has shifted in asia exponentially over the years, specifically countries like China,
Taiwan and the Philippines always seem to have the bulk of competitors entering this stage. It'd be cool to see Ko win this
event again considering the amount of world class players combined with stiff competition from here onward.

him and Kiamco are two of the dudes that put serious fear in the younger filipinos

I think Oscar is coming into a peak period...
..he's in his thirties now, where his physical ability meets experience and knowledge.

Shane is there too....good luck to oth of them.

'Course, there's a third player from North America in the running also....
