I might go. Probably yes.Just getting over my COVID. Vaccinated and boosted but still hit me pretty hard. Two weeks later and I still can't shake the cough. You going to the SBE in April?
I actually saw Efren get 3-fouled by Gerry Watson in ‘91....must’ve got Efren mad..he beat him 11-2.Who the heck is this guy trying to 3 foul Efren
I bet Gerry's been riding that high since 1991 though (if he's still with us hopefully)!I actually saw Efren get 3-fouled by Gerry Watson in ‘91....must’ve got Efren mad..he beat him 11-2.
While he's great, I like Filler just a hair more. Either way, they should have a long rivalry. I think they have set the bar a bit higher then their same-aged peers. When it comes to the absolute top level, I really think pace of play makes some difference, but not as much in their matches as in their practice. Just think about how many more balls a faster player pockets in their lifetime than a slower one. This must add up to something. Think Kaci vs Filler. If all else is equal in their practice and Filler pockets 30% more balls how can Kaci keep up?
That's just one example but you have Shaw, SVB, Earl, Orcullo, etc. Luckily for us, the top tier seem to really get on with it and I think it's to their advantage.
Gerry (The Ghost) was quite the entertaining guy. Once he and Ginky, after a lot of negotiations started a set of 9 Ball. Gerry kept walking around and calling Ginky Gurky or something close to that. Finally someone in the crowd said "It's Ginky!" GW put on his best stunned look and said " Ginky!!?? the Champion?-You mean Im playing him??"I actually saw Efren get 3-fouled by Gerry Watson in ‘91....must’ve got Efren mad..he beat him 11-2.
Gerry is a funny guy for sure. Bought my first pool cue from him a Muecci and he gave me a signed VHS copy of his 101 pool shots. I still have the copy un-open down in my pool room. He used to come through Ottawa quite often and was always a party when he did.Gerry (The Ghost) was quite the entertaining guy. Once he and Ginky, after a lot of negotiations started a set of 9 Ball. He beat Ginky 2 sets (even) and Ginky unscrewed. Im gonna guess this was in 94 or so before Ginky reached his top game but he was still considered a slight favorite.
Yeah, Gerry was a blast. Great player too. Back in the 80's I watched him beat Rempe, Earl and Sigel at the BC Open. Lost to the Miz on the winner's side. Beautiful, effortless stroke and game. I joy to watch. Where is he now?Gerry is a funny guy for sure. Bought my first pool cue from him a Muecci and he gave me a signed VHS copy of his 101 pool shots. Good question, a few years back I heard he was still in the Philippines and I am not certain if he is still there or back in Canada.Yeah, Gerry was a blast. Great player too.
