2022 World Snooker Championship (Apr 16th - May 2nd)

Nice spreadsheet (y) (there is a typo in 'Lisowksi').

Why is this thread not under Snooker section? :p
It is a AZB thing... You will see this for loads of major tournaments.
Recently with World Pool, US open etc.. Even though there are sections for all of this, the busiest threads end up in MAIN.
Ha ha, sections are hard for the masses I guess. Lol.

Don't know if Mike moves them later when a event is done, or gave up years ago and leaves them in main section.

For newcomers and casual browsers, sure makes it seem like there is no content and the persistent ones might try the Search button

Why does DAZN have to confuse me?

You'd think Mark Williams would be on Table 2 and Ronnie on Table 1 based on the image below, but it's the other way around.

maguire feeling inspired, my bet backfired
Yes, the momentum could have easily shifted when Zhao pulled a rabbit out of the hat to win frame 10, but Maguire was able to maintain his highest gear for the remainder of the session. Still, there is quite a long way to go in this match.

I was going to post a short clip of the bird invasion but YouTube blocked it for copyright before I could finish the title. We'll have to wait for World Snooker to post the plucky pigeon.

Yep, Zhao is a huge talent but will need another 3 to 5 years to be a World beater.

I agree with Ronnie, Zhao has a chance to break loads of records later.. Just not yet.

Maguire is just reminding him.

zhao impressed me winning the UK championship, so i figured he's not that big a long shot this year. but that tournament, like most others, are short races now.

so we see promising players like brecel and zhao winning tournaments that doesn't really prepare them for the world championship marathon. the worlds is very different both in races and venue. which is probably why there are so few first time winners.. a good bet is to go with someone who's been there, done that.

No surprises, Ronnie gets the first frame of the session to win the match 13-4.

So do they play another match on that table now?

It's easy to overlook how great Ronnie and Williams are playing until you see what Trump and McGill are doing so far today.

This reminded me a bit of the Mika controversy over the ref not using a ball marker.

On this shot, it appears the CB doesn't pass the blue. Yan jokingly asks the ref if he can clean the CB, and the ref is like, "not from there" He eventually takes it on, and somehow it did pass.

Another record for Ronnie for most matches won at the Crucible.

And, he also got most quarter finals reached with 20, beating Hendry on 19.

Most ranking titles... Most triple Crowns..

Hopefully this is the one that puts him level with Hendry on 7 World Titles.

Very good signs, he destroyed Mark Allen.
Maguire is playing well, but Ronnie is too much in this form.
Higgins and Robertson in his half, so massive tests ahead.... I just have that 2012, 2013 feeling though..

Maguire is dangerous...and the prime example for wasted talent. Maybe just topped by Mark Allen.
That said, Maguire is the generation of Snooker players, who are still afraid of Ronnie.

But as I said before, don't look out for the players who are breezing through the first rounds. Ronnie was marvelous, Williams was even better, but in the end it will be someone else who will be lifting the crown.
