2024 World Pool Championship

It always seems to be true that Tyler dogs it…. And it usually is right after you tell yourself “ maybe this is where Tyler shows what he is made of”. I really think he does have the heart. I think he just gets in his own head. I can almost guarantee, if he worked with a top tier Sports Psychologist we would see him improve, and get into that 800 club
True, but I also am afraid chances are, a 'top tier' sports psycho(logist) would probably have advised Tyler to give up pool whatsoever :sneaky:

I don't think it is anything to do with affording.
Have you seen how much some of these wood shafts cost? Most of these players are sponsored, so are either given or choose wood.
There is a more purist attitude toward product and what works, which is why they choose this. There certainly is in China anyway.
16 yo AJ Manas is playing with wooden cue. Dunno think he is sponsored to get one.
Eklent Kaci relies on his good old shaft made of wood. I bet Filler would have jumped to get back to his beloved "toothpick", but probably the pile of $$$ Predator offered him to make a switch was too big to reject.

Filipinos, Taiwanese, many of them stick to wood. I like that.

This is from that can of worms at the Aiming Againstum but as a service to the craft, he's too obsessed with that method of his. That stuff won't cinch the crucial shots for you, especially at the top.

Also, a buddy of mine got a new Whyte carbon shaft that I guess is painted to look like wood...I can't tell the difference unless I am looking closely.

I wonder if more cf shafts will offer this option.

With due respect, what you are showing is a mobile version. Try to do the trick at a desktop, and you'll see the red circle is tiny and looks like hidden in the devil's arse
I only use it on my iPhone. Maybe that’s where the difference in opinion is between those who think it’s good and those who don’t. It might be better optimised for smartphones

Also,

8 from Taiwan
6 from US
3 from Poland
3 from UK

Ahem……. Canada 🇨🇦 needs to be mentioned…the Lion is in.

I won't bother regurgitating my thoughts on nonsense 'tech jargon' and consumerism in pool. But I totally agree with you. Maybe carbon is a good choice if the intention is to beat your opponent once they clean you up with a house cue. Otherwise... Meh. People can waste some money if they want.

Kledio Kaci really looked good, as did his big brother. SVB, FSR, Filler, the younger Ko, Shaw, Teutscher, Wiktor Z and … Kuo Po Cheng were other big standouts.

aj manas and the 2 ali's are the biggest surprises for me. one is from iraq, the other one i don't know, possibly bahrain. those two arabs could be sneaky tough draws for oscar and fedor.

i saw an interview with manas yesterday, great attitude, not noticably nervous, just enjoying the ride.

Kaci (probably KaciS, as I've heard ppl say Kledio is a copy of Eklent), Albin, Fedor. Chang Jun Lin.

Make a round robin contest between those to figure out who is THE Slowest

kledio is not quite as slow, but also not as accurate as his big brother. otherwise very similar in style.

dimitri jungo is another really slow player. ralf, yapp, roland, uski, the list goes on...

Exactly .. how many golfers are on tour that have never or will never win a tour stop but they keep plugging a way and get to make their living playing the game they love. I would love to be in his position .
