2024 World Pool Championship

9-9. This is the first full match I've watched at these championships and can't get over how terrible these tiny pockets are. Both Melling and Gorst missed balls that would/should go in on any pool table. One of them was Gorst's 7ball that would have put him up 10-5. Instead 9-6 and Melling goes on a run and we have a tie game. But that shot should always drop. F these stupid pockets. Tho fair is fair cuz Melling got robbed on exactly the same type of shot earlier.

i'm beginning to regret calling him a middle aged part timer with gout that can't break an egg. he's been breaking great. not limping today either
He's a part-timer with American pool but still plays a lot of English 8 ball (sponsored by Extreme Pool) and Chinese 8 ball.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but very strange that no Taiwanese players in the final 16.
ye they usually strong. sucks for Poles they have to play each other in the quarters. Worked out nice for Pinoys tho with 3 in the final 8 and none play each other.

fedor wins 11-9.. it's going to be tough for him against raga. he's still off in his game and very likely tired with all these long hard fought matches behind him

Playing bad and still winning. Must be nice. I expect him to get back to normal any match now and start steam rolling opponents.

Fixed it for you... ;)

The battle we just got to witness is exactly why tightening up the pockets for professionals is a great move. Gorst off his game isn't bailed out by loose pockets. So instead of a landslide victory, we get to enjoy a seesaw battle.

Thank you MR

4inches is tight af. 4.25 is plenty tight enough for pool to stay pool. Shots like Gorst's 7ball should drop. Melling's similar shot also irked me when it weirdly rattled. Sure it's good for match drama, but these are too tight imo. Plus these are on TV tables which play looser. The outer tables must be murder.

In quarterfinals, only 1 top 10 WNT ranked (Gorst) and 2 top 10 Fargo (Gorst, Raga) remain
But all 8 quarterfinalists are 800s/ top 50 Fargo
So while overall sub par performances by top 10 players, this is still strong last 8. Impressive when compared to the “disaster” in recent UK Open major when only 3 x800s reached last 8 and zero in last 4. The 800s are back in control

I actually was surprised at some of the shots that dropped earlier today. One was I believe a long bank on a 3 ball from Ignacio. It's still pool. Just not the easy version.

Hit them good, they drop.

Edit: Nope it was Dang w/Mickey

That's the nature of Pool table pockets, the opening size is only half the equation.

ye that looks loose af. but the two that bothered me in the melling gorst match were both open table, hit the inside facing at speed, and rattled out. that shouldn't happen.

chua is in some form, 7-1 with i don't know how many BNRs in a row. playing very brave, banking, kicking to make and run out
