Well, figured I'd throw my hat in the ring on this one lol. I know... I know.. you're gonna think it's fake. It's sadly real. A whomping 55! I've tried a few times before off camera and this is my best yet by a few points, even though I really faded off at the end here. I started strong. My cellphone was about to die and didn't have the plug lol

Here is my first video:
https://youtu.be/uZ1WtKR-rqk

Will post the second part as soon as I do it. Maybe tomorrow.

Score on exam 1: 55
My fargo rating is 476.
My table is a Diamond Professional with 4 1/2" pockets at mouth, 3 7/8 at the throat, 2" shelf.

Cleary,

Thank you for participating. I've added you to the $2500 BU Exam Challenge page.

After you post an Exam II score, I'll add it to the page and I'll add you to the AZB BU thread.

Also, please consider trying the Exams again after a little more practice. I look forward to seeing how much you can improve. I'm sure you can do much better.

Good luck,
Dave

PS: Cut out that paper target. The inner edges can sometimes help.

I have the 2nd part of the challenge a try. The Master skill exam. I got a 59. Don't think I played my best but it's not an easy challenge.

So I guess my overall BU score is a 114

Thanks again for posting. FYI, I've added both videos to the $2500 BU Exam Challenge page and to the AZB BU thread.

I hope you try the exams again at some point to show us how much you can improve after some practice with the Exam drills.

Catch you later,
Dave

lol I sure hope I do but it could be a while. They're very good drills though and it's very challenging. I'm a C+ player and feel like on some drills got lucky.

Today is the last day of the challenge. Any additional video entries need to go live on YouTube by midnight tonight (Mountain time).

FYI, in the last day, two more pros (Hideaki Arita from Japan and the other is Tobias Bongers from Germany) have posted video entries. Their scores and videos are on the $2500 BU Exam Challenge page. Hideaki hasn't had enough FargoRate matches to have the high rating he deserves, so his scores are in the non-top-pro division. Tobias just took over the top spot in the top-pro division from Marc Vidal, who took over the top spot from SVB.

Enjoy the vids,
Dave

So the current total score of Tobias Bongers (Fargo rating 714/pro) is now: 180 points in the pro section
95 (exam1) + 85 in the doctorate

FYI
Tobias Bongers has uploaded a new video of exam 1 today with 95 points:

Thank you for posting this. FYI, I've added the new entry on the $2500 BU Exam Challenge page.

That is a really strong score. It is hard to imagine anybody beating that anytime soon; although, I would still like to see a perfect 100 some day. That would be truly special (even more special than the amazing 95), and I think it would take a significant effort after much practice by a top player.

I'll be contacting the winners tomorrow to send out the money prizes and diplomas.

Regards,
Dave

The $2500 BU Exam Challenge is now officially over.

Tobias Bongers from Germany won the Top-Pro Division $1500 Prize with a total score of 180 (Exam I:95 + Exam II:85). Here are his videos:

Exam II (85)

Scott Brazier ("Side Pocket" on AZB) won both non-top-pro divisions for a total prize of $1000. Here are his videos:
Exam I (90)
Exam II (92)

Scores and videos for all entries, including pros Shane Van Boening, Marc Vidal, and Hideaki Arita can be found on the $2500 BU Playing-Ability-Exam Challenge page.

Congratulations to the winners, and enjoy the videos!
