2nd BRICKYARD 9-BALL BAR TABLE CLASSIC Oct 31 & Nov 1, 2009

No mystery who I am Sam. Darren (with the exception of not having yellow skin, I look like my picture) I used to stake Yorky all around.

Troy and I used to work together and I drove up to Muncie back in the day for their tournaments.

Can't see how the call 8 in one pocket would work, and I can't play you anything without to ridiculous spot. Last time I was at Felix's C tourney, I lost first round to can't remember and then Felix's wife put me out.

I play under probably everyone you can name, I'm at least 10-7 under onepocketmike from Columbus if that helps you.

I thougt you were maybe another Darren I knew, but I remember you. Been a long time. I'll still kick in the change for your entry. LOL..... My big table game has went to hell. That's why I don't play any 9 ball on the them. I know just enough about 1 hole to get into trouble. But I might play a little bank pool cheap with someone. I'll see you at the tourney.

See everyone there. I'm pretty excited to have a tournament close to home, kinda. Too bad you aren't going to give me the 2 games on the wire! 1on1, I can't believe you aren't staying home to dress up and hand out candy...haha

Good Luck Sarah! Snap it off:)

Why, you doing?

When Mac was having these tournies in Ft. Wayne, I only recall 1 time that a uy who would be consideed the overall favorite in the room, actually won it. And that was Luat. With it being a loser break format, upsets happen. Last tourney, a "C" player got 3rd. He played some great pool. It will be a great event, no matter what.

finals

I posted the best players there in the main forum.

Man, did I pick it wrong. Apparently, Dee played a really good set, {he usually does} and beat Brian in the finals of the loser side. He needed to beat Tom D'alfonso twice. Dee won the first set 9-2, and Mac said they both started to unscrew their sticks. So, they have a co-champion for this year. They made an agreement, and I am sure they got the ok from those involved in the calcutta, to split if Dee won the first set.

Mac also said, that with 9 less players than the one in spring, Brian Groce managed to raise the same amount in the calcutta. With only 12 players remaining on Sunday, the 2nd calcutta was roughly $2000 total. Congrats fella's on some great play.

At the last tournament, I haven't seen anyone run a Calcutta better than Brian G. did.

Yea

At the last tournament, I haven't seen anyone run a Calcutta better than Brian G. did.

I have been to a lot of tournies, and seen a lot of different people run em. But Brian definitely gets more money than anyone I have seen. Out of 56 players, he got 8 over $400. Remember the truck driver last spring that played. Came in with sun glasses, and dressed like he was trying sneak in. No one knew him, but Brian got like $120 for him I think. Turns out, the guy really was a truck driver, and couldn't run a whole rack with ball in hand. Almost $10,000 bid, on 56 players, is a pretty high average.

The truck driver was classic - guy actually looked like it was a disquise and Brian had em all thinking he was a champion from Texas.

BTW - the guy that got 3rd last time is no C player. He played great til he started to think about it too much.

He was still rated as a "C" player

He had been on the border of being moved up. I was always told and had read in books, that when you play your best pool ever, you're not playing over your head, but up to your real potential. Everything in your mind goes blank, with complete focus. I usually get like that when I have the flu, and go play a tourney. I don't think about talking to people, or anything other than finish this match and go sit somewhere.

When Frankie started to think about what he had done, and the position he was in, he didn't have a chance. That's the point where people who have been there, can still focus and succeed.

Calcutta

If you want to see the best Calcutta, go to White Diamonds in Lafayette, LA. Chris Miller will get more money out of anyone. If you havn't seen him run a Calcutta, you have to go and then you'll know you've seen the best. They have a tournament in January. He always gets 128 with others trying to get in. THe calcutta will be over 30k.

Results and Payouts

Does anyone have the tournament payouts and auction payouts for the
2nd Indy tourny?

Thanks

Results but no Auction payouts???

Brickyard Billiards 9-Ball Bar Table event
October 31 - November 1, 2009
Brickyard Billiards

Place Playername Prize Money
1st place Tom D'Alfonso $512.00
2nd place Dee Adkins $512.00
3rd place Brian Groce $500.00
4th place Rick Schroeder $350.00
5th place Jason Klatt $300.00
5th place Brian Artrip $300.00
7th place John Betinoui $200.00
7th place Steve Oaks $200.00
9th place Bob Dickerson $150.00
9th place Jeff Beckley $150.00
9th place Dan Walton $150.00
9th place Chris Bartram $150.00

Bet the AUCTION payouts blew these tourney payouts away. I probably would have bought Klatt and Gross and ended up paying for my trip, before beer money. If anyone has the auction payout's sure would like to know if it is worth the drive next year.

Just rough numbers off top of my head. calcutta paid $2500 for 1st, 1200 for 2nd, not sure about 3rd and 4th paid $640. First calcutta had $7100 or so in it and second calcutta had $1900 in it.

These are the numbers for the 1st calcutta, before the house take. They may not be exact but are very close.

1st 36% - $2833
2nd 20% - $1574
3rd 15% - $1180
4th 9% - $708
5-6 6% - $472
7-8 4% - $314

Both tournaments were very close money wise. The first one paid a little more but had 9 more players. The second calcutta had more in it last time but it was also ran when there were 16 players left, instead of 12.

Not sure where you got that tourney payout list, but it ain't right. 1st place in the tourney paid $1300 + $2500 for the calcutta {after the cut} I believe they took the standard 10% from 1st calcutta, which had a total around $7880 and $7100 total cal. paid back. But the house added $1500 even tho it wasn't a full field. $75 entry, and NO GREEN FEE'S......

IF 1ST WAS $1300, 2ND WOULD BE AROUND $900 DEE AND TOM WOULD HAVE SPLIT AROUND $2200 before the calcutta money. Still a pretty good payout for a weekend tourney.
