As part of the festivities (14.1 and 3-cushion tournaments) this week at Carom Cafe in NYC, Efren Reyes just played a 3-cushion game against the great Torbjorn Blomdahl.

Mr. Blomdahl prevailed 35-12 in 13 innings (12 for Mr. Reyes), sparked by one great inning in which he scored 16 billiards! Mr. Blomdahl also scored a 5 and a 4. Mr. Reyes had a high of 5, and showed that he, too, knows quite a bit about 3-cushion.

Two more exhibitions will be played tomorrow -- Mr. Reyes vs. Mr. Blomdahl in 9-ball and Mr. Reyes vs. Mr. Raymond Ceulemans in balkline billiards.

I have played Blomdahl 9 ball and he can really play. To be honest, in one set Reyes does not have to beat him.

Are you sure about Reyes and Ceulemans in balkline? I think it's Blomdahl vs Ceulemans. Reyes knows the 3C moves but balkline is a different game.

Does anyone know a way to watch the match now? I paid the $15, at about 9:30 (match started at 8:00). The viewer said no live content or something like that after I had access. Just wondering if anyone knows if I can still watch it?

???

Reyes might be the best Balkline player in the world..., he plays, he wins!

I guess you completly missed the part about Balkline being Efren's best
game.

And I guess you're missing the part where I'm sarcastically implying so what:). I'm not quite sure if you guys know what top notch balkline runs are:), so please tell me if you do. In fact a few years ago some guy posted something similar along the lines of Efren running 30's and 40's. If Efren has improved since then, then I stand corrected. Caudron runs 100's and has run perfect 300's in tournament play.

As a point of reference Willie Hoppe's runs in billiards are 2000 contiguous pts in straight rail, 622 points in 18.2 balkline

I guess it was, in fact, you who missed the sarcasm.

Did some OTHER La La Louie make this statement?

Balkline is Efrens favorite game, he has said so many times, he is know to one of the best on the planet at that game

Balk line

Efren and cuelemans are playing balk line - but not a 'standard'.

They are playing 72.2 (I think).

That means the table has 8 'squares'. - each about 28 x 28 inches.

That is the 72 - and the .2 means only 2 consecutive Billiards can be made in one section.

Not sure if this is exactly correct, br should be close.

Table

It don't matter what table efern plays on, most of the tables "in the philippines where he learned"are in real bad shape from extensive play in a open area next to a dirt road. You could put efern on a kitchen table with some sort of bumpers and he will figure out how to play the table with skill'
The guy has many gears with a adjustable clutch setting for any table.
I'm sure most of you already know but I don't mind fluffing the magicians nutts a little. LOL
Enjoy'

thats one of reyes specialties

They are calling the game 71.2, Mark. I think this means balk lines are drawn 71 centimeters from each rail. On a 10-foot table, that means three lines -- two lines across the width of the table joining the second diamonds from each end and one line down the center of the table the long way. That would create six sections rather than eight. [If they add one across the center, width-wise, that would be eight.] And then, as you say, the .2 means no more than 2 consecutive points allowed in each space created by the lines. But I'm no expert in this, so we'll see.

It should be interesting, eh?

First, at 7:30, it will be Blomdahl vs Efren in 10-ball, race to 8. (They agreed last night after the 3-cushion match to change it from 9-ball to 10-ball)

Raymond Ceulemans and Efren Reyes will play 100 points of 71.2 Balkline tonight at 9pm.
Efren Reyes' favorite game is balkline.

Blomdahl is really an exception in that respect. I mentioned I played Blomdahl and how good he played. I have player other Billiard players including Sang Lee and Carlos Hallon. Carlos can play a little, but shockingly Sang Lee played pool so bad he could not beat my wife when they played. He had no ability to play position at all. Funny how the games are so different.
