I'll say it again, and please try to read it very carefully before replying.

These current rules FAVOR the better breaker. It is very DIFFICULT to get a legal break under these rules, but NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

The HIGHER the amount of DIFFICULTY a task is to complete, the GREATER the amount of SKILL is REQUIRED.
 
What are the pros saying about the rule?

Do they like randomly losing control of the break because of ball collisions they could not possibly guard against?

Do they like fewer runouts after the break?

Will fewer runable tables and more turnovers after the break present an advantage to the better players or the bad players?

It would be fun to hear what they have to say.

Or maybe the players not complaining are the rack mechanics. I don't blame Earl for unscrewing.
 
Break..

I think if they tweaked the rules a little and instead of using the Head spot, use the side pocket for the 3 Ball Rule ? it seemed to me like so many of the illegal breaks, the 2nd and third Balls many times were between the side and the Head spot, or really close to the Head String Line....just my opinion, I do not like the 3 Ball rule with the Head Spot,..and I think using the side pocket, would make things more fair to the Breaker"s..
 
I will take everyone's word for it that making the three points with the mini break box is difficult as I haven't watched any of these US Open matches. Without the break box it really isn't that difficult - I can make it most of the time, whether the 1 or 9 is on the spot - and I am not by any stretch of the imagination a great breaker. Of course. I don't always make it. I don't love the rule but I don't mind it. The "mini" break box plus 3 point rule is maybe a bit excessive.

I never get the arguments for winner breaks (yes I'm sure Jayson Shaw's comeback was exciting) - if the break should be a part of your all round game then surely we want to see both players break an equal number of times to see who breaks best? You can still run the table, you just have to do it every other rack......

You're 100% right, that's why Cory was so dominate as a top tier player....he put in the time to master his break......while most everyone else cried about not being able to fade his break....so they all proved it's better to change the rules of the game rather than practice to be able to compete.

ALL rhe sames skills it took to win BEFORE the rules started changing.

You are saying it takes more skill and practice time to master the soft break than to break from the mini box and get 3 balls past the head string?

Yes or No?

Absolutely it takes more skill to master Cory's soft break....THAT'S why the rules have been changed so much....so the dead money players don't have to practice to much!

What I mean is....the best of the best in this game are always going to rise to the top no matter what the rules are changed to. So if through all these BS rule changes the cream of the crop are still rising to the top.....just like they were BEFORE any rule changes.....then who are the rules being changed for. The PROS are going to win regardless of rule changes....so, WHY change them at all?

Glad I finally got that out of you. But you're 100% WRONG.

Hitting a ball at a high rate of speed and with control is MUCH more difficult than just hitting a ball with control.

Any C player can soft break like Corey, but I don't know any C players that can break like Shane.

Then WHY didn't all those C players that could break like Cory....do so, rather than complain about his break....and opt to change the rules of 9 ball instead?

The rule didn't change because they couldn't.

It changed because it's boring AF to watch.

Get it?

So.....the rules to 9 ball.....were changed for the GOOD of the spectators watching....who are not even playing in the US Open.....LMAO

- No issues with payouts (check)
