ancient wood

I have made a few cues with this wood, just to be able to say this cue is made with 50,000 year old wood. I dont think i will ever make any more. I have a few extra pieces if anyone wants to try a piece, pm me. I'll send you a piece at no charge. The pieces i have are very light in weight and look much like mahogony. The hit seems very soft to me. chuck

I have a lot of Kauri, in rounds, already with the core hole drilled thru them.
These I've had for at least 5 years and most are the highly prized "Whitebait"
species. The term "Whitebait" comes from the idea that when you look at the wood, under certain light conditions, it looks like a school of Whitebait fish swimming in the wood. The effect is higher in flat pieces than in rounds.

If any one wants a cue made with Kauri I have several in progress. All must be cored with purple heart. I like to use it on a handle with a full splice blank.
Also can sell some rounds as I have plenty. The wood is soft but that does not effect the hit when cored with PH and when used as a handle or butt sleeve.

it is very light and soft and in tyhe pine family.you should definitely core it in a cue,and probably not use it for forearms at all.
