For the first time ever in history, 3Cushion Billiards will be aired on ESPN!!

Semih Sayginer will be making USA national TV debut on ESPN at the US Pro Tour CHampionship in Los Angeles on April 1,2007. This carom show will take place before the men's TV rounds.

Sayginer is a world class player as well as a genius at creating impossible looking caroms. They call him "The Magic".

This will be made into two 30 min shows on ESPN.

Ira Lee will be working with Dragon Promotions as co-producer of this carom TV show. Ira is also the promoter of the Sang Lee Memorial event in NYC and has been a true gentleman and supporter of carom billiards for many years and is well respected in the sport.

It has been his dream to see carom hit main stream audiences in USA, and this is 3Cushion's chance. For those who share his dream and vision, please contact him.

Ever since the death of carom in the end of the 1950s alongside the great Willie Hoppe, Masako Katsura, Jake Shaffer, and many other greats, this sport is about to come up from the grave once again and hopefully become a great sport.

All I have to say to those that even read this is that the dawn of the carom era will flourish! Slowly, but surely.

Pocket Billiards has become the only sport of interest throughout America. The time of change is now. Three slightly larger phenolic balls with a table with no pockets will dance the night away with speed, angle, and English to its most precision. In Three Cushion, one blink and you completely missed spectacular high velocity shots like a bullet coming out of a magnum!

This is spectacular! Charlie & Ira... godspeed for you guys and your successess with this televised programing! I would not miss this for the WORLD! To you readers, this is a moment of time in which carom will even be in existance... ENJOY IT! :)

Thanks also to Mike Massey & Eric Yow who will be participants in this historic event.

This will be a great addition to the US PTC in Los Angeles and the fans are in for a real treat.
ESPN is looking forward to airing this carom event and DP hopes this helps promote carom in the USA.
 
Charlie, what format will be use, if any? Or is that been work on and be release at a later date?
 
I watched Semih on youtube and his CB control is out of this world! I began watching more 3C vids and have so MUCH respect for these players. I can't even begin to imagine how much time it would take to master this game!

Given the list of participants, it sounds like "Trick Shot Magic" on a carom table. Frankly, I'm disappointed.

Mark, don't be such a naysayer. This is a door opener. It will be "Artistic Billiards", not trick shot magic. There are no props, no gadgets, and no gimmicks. I am faithful that you'll enjoy it, regardless. Everytime Semih walks to a table, jaws drop. Period.

Ira Lee, the producer, is going well out of his way to make this a spectacle, for sure!

I'm not a naysayer; I'm a truth-sayer. Call it what you like, but don't call it three-cushion billiards, because it's not. We'll have to wait and see about the props, gadgets, and gimmicks. My guess is that the table will be littered with Coke bottles, penny wrappers, and extra cue sticks.

A lot of the trick shots Semih shoots are legitimate three cushion shots that would count in tourneys. In his earlier days, he would try one or two "trick" shots in sets in serious competition, but later adjusted his game to a more conservative style.

Anyone who hasn't seen the artistic shots he does on the tape Accu-Stats put out with him and Roberto Rojas needs to see it- it might be the most impressive thing you've ever seen. Especially that tape in particular- Semih not only makes some of the hardest shots you can imagine, he makes most of them on his first try.

I've heard this will be at 11AM Sunday at the Normandie Casino in Gardena. I will be there and am not flying back until the next morning in case someone would like to shoot some.

I'm also told that there will be no wax/silicone or props (except maybe for the pin used for masse restrictions). No balls shot out of the mouths of attractive women stretched out on the table.
