Yes, that was my thinking. I have the sides about as thin as I can make them now. 1mm thin. You can see the light shine through it easily.Just the 'corners' to make the round cube square without adding bulk to all sides....![]()

I havent printed TPU on this printer yet. I did a couple times on my last printer and didn’t have good results. I’ll try it eventually.Try printing it n TPU...you will get a much better grip and I think it makes the holder more durable....and the fuzzy skin setting does help...I think it looks better as well.
I posted pics in the Taom thread a while back..I make one I call the comfort grip....I actually make it for all chalk types....it has finger indents on the side...also has a press fit cover for when in case...
Currently working on a magnet design with clip.

TPU works best for me with a direct drive set up.....I have one printer dedicated for TPU so I don't have to monkey with settingsI havent printed TPU on this printer yet. I did a couple times on my last printer and didn’t have good results. I’ll try it eventually.
Those prices seem a little low to me just based on gut. Seems like a lot of effort on your end for those prices. I would also think that everybody who is going to buy them at those prices would just as easily buy them at say $10 and $20 plus $2 shipping anyway. Seems like a pretty cheap investment for something that would work so well and last so long, but I also have no idea what else is out there that is similar, and at what prices, which is of course a factor.Update. I have finalized the design and will be offering the Taom chalk holders for sale. (I'll make another thread in the FS forum).
I've been using the final design for 6 months, and it's held up great. The square shape makes it much more comfortable to apply chalk for me. It feels like Masters now. Also, the chalk does not run away from you when dropped. I've even dropped it in Diamond ball return pockets before, and it has stayed at the bottom of the pocket rather than roll into the center of the table.
The material is now rubberized. It's called "TPU for AMS". It's only slightly soft, about the same as a car tire. This gives it a bit better grip in the hand, and a bit of compliance to make the tolerance to the chalk more forgivable. It still has the texture, which also works great for the grip. There is also texture in the inside that holds the chalk firmly. This material only comes in 7 colors. They are all shown below.
I can now do customizations. The customization can be any text, but must be one of the 7 colors. The text does lose some detail the smaller it is. Text only, no graphics.

The fit around the chalk is snug. A pen or key is used to push it out from the access hole.

When the chalk gets worn down, a coin can be added behind it to keep it flush with the top of the holder. A quarter will fit. I have tested it with super thin chalk, and several coins, and it works great.

If the chalk is brand new, the fit is a very nice snug fit. If the chalk is well used (and it's never been in a holder), the paper is usually damaged somewhat, and then the fit is tight. It will still go in with more pushing. Worse case, rip a tiny bit of the paper off or try to smooth it out before inserting.
Final CAD: (the clearance to the chalk is taken up by the texture which is applied in the printer software, not the CAD software)

i should not answer for the op but it seems to meWhat do most players use as a chalk holder? I don’t like having to move my chalk around the table or walk to go retrieve it so I wear a leather chalk pouch. The naked chalk just drops in the pouch easily and retrieving it is but a few inches away the whole time I play pool. Something like this wouldn’t fit in most chalk pouches but a piece of TAOM V10 round chalk or Pagulayan square chalk (TAOM) or any brand chalk comfortably fits in the pouch and doesn’t pop out. Magnetic chalk holders are also popular? Can this design be modified to accommodate that design? It appears like this is intended to be used as a stand alone chalk holder that substitutes for other chalk holder designs. Don’t get me wrong because this does have merit.
Me personally, in the Masters days I used the room’s chalk and left it on the table, sharing with my opponent. In the $20 lipstick chalk days, I want my name on it.What do most players use as a chalk holder? Chalk pouches are by design meant to lay close to your waistline or pocket. This is so there isn’t any swing interferencei should not answer for the op but it seems to me
you could put a magnet on the bottom under the chalk like shown above with the quarter and now you have a magnetic chalk holder
also
i dont understand why this would not fit in a pouch
or find a pouch that it would fit in
Chalk pouches are by design meant to lay close to your waistline or pocket. This is so there isn’t any swing interference
with one’s pool stroke. The closer to your bodice the pouch lays lessens any obstructing placement where you prefer the punch to be positioned. That is understandably sensible & as a leather pouch user for decades, I will attest to that.
The Peradon leather pouch is the best version I’ve encountered and is made in England. I included a photo of a custom leather pouch made by Gil Castillo to match the leather cue case he built for me. There’s also a similar black leather pouch to the Peradon that’s embossed TAOM. The photos show you how wide I could squeeze the pouch to hold a chalk holder like the one in this thread. So I was mistaken earlier when I said it wouldn’t fit because it looks like it would. However, unlike just a single piece of chalk that allows the pouch to remain much flatter and thus closer to your body, putting the challk holder in the pouch will cause the pouch to expand and balloon in size which would be bothersome for your pool stroke. I suppose you could reposition it but why bother moving the location on your waist when you can just drop a single piece of chalk in it that lets the pouch lay flat?
If you use a chalk pouch, a chalk holder seems frivolous, IMO. And if you decided to still do it, the expanded resultant size of the pouch could become bothersome and interfere with your pool stroke. So it seems like a chalk pouch works
best holding just the pool chalk instead of a chalk holder, at least that’s been my experience.
