3D Printed Taom square chalk holder

The root reason I started this path a year or more ago now, is the Taom chalk was too uncomfortable for me to hold. It was too small, and a poor shape to get a good grip on it. Regular chalk has been square for 100 years, probably for these same reasons. I would have probably gotten used to it given enough time.... A larger square shape just fits in my hand a lot better.
I totally concur, not that my opinion matters much. All my life I used a cube shape and so I was delighted when TAOM & Alex Pagulayan arranged an endorsement for a cube version of TAOM chalk under his name. It solved my complaints about TAOM’s original oval shape pool chalk. Pagulayan chalk plays identically as V10 and should since it is made by TAOM. If a cube shape pool chalk is what you prefer versus oval, you can purchase Pagulayan chalk instead.

Maybe it is just me, but a thread where a member is offering a product for sale (even though that wasn't apparently the intent when the thread was initially started), especially a longstanding and good contributing member, does not seem to be the appropriate place to be bad mouthing their product or trying to steer people to other competing products instead. Personal testimonials about this product, or suggestions for future features or improvements on this product are one thing, but rest should be in some other thread, not here.

It's all good! I actually have never seen any of the other 3d printed ones, so its interesting to see them now, after I designed my own version.

I just thought of another way to do one. An expanding collet and nut design (similar as in machining toolholding). The nut would be square. This would give the square outer shape. The expanding collet design would allows the chalk position to be adjusted when it wears. Because its expanding, the fit would be loose until the nut is locked.

Lots of ways to do things:)

I worked on a design like that. Gets bulky real quick. I ended up just making a TPU version that is simply short (approx. 1/4" of friction wall height) with decent interference fit for the chalk. This is the master's version:

Gives enough to hold the chalk well, has a hole to add a pocket dongle.

Here is the original version made from carbon PLA, which works well, but eventually breaks (go figure):
