reflection on shane vs. alex and pool
I think that Shane is undoubtedly the best player in the world at this moment. However, pool is a game of highs and lows. Alex has been where Shane has been and is currently at the other end of the spectrum. I talked with Alex a bit and even though it is hard for him to be serious, like other top pros, he said he is some what disgusted with the way pool is and undoubtedly disturbed by the recent collapse of the IPT, being in trouble with the Asian games, and many other personal issues. Shane is experiencing the good life that pool has to offer right now and it is really gratifying that pocket billiards can still lift somebody up as high as Shane is feeling and playing right now. No doubt it couldn't happen to a nicer or more dedicated guy like himself. Maybe his success can inspire the "other" peers of the sport such as Alex, Corey, and those of his generation to become dedicated again and we will become enlightened once again as we were in the early 90's. Wouldn't it be great for these guys to put there all in the sport again simply for the pride of being number 1? With the help of TAR, diamond billiards, numerous other supporters, and the encouragement of people like us, we will see pool take on a new level. And, perhaps, we will be able to thank Shane for it?
With that being said, I wish the contenders good luck and I hope that Alex is hitting balls consistently and if so, we may have an ongoing battle between the elite to be the "King of the Hill"!!
