................................

looks like 3/8x10 piloted

I was thinking that could possibly be it as well but have never seen one.

I think it is just an extra good picture....I think my Richard Black shafts will fit right on...
....they are 14 thread.

As an aside....what kind of joint is this?

Your tool here is perspective. The jnt collar is 1" long. It's .840" wide.
If you were to continue the thread count for a full inch, the length of the jnt. collar,
you'd be looking at a 14 tpi pin. How many piloted 3/8x10 pins have you actually seen ?

I counted the threads and used the joint collar reference for one inch. I came up with ten.

I have only rarely seen one...but I do believe this is one.

EDIT: Just tried it again. Still got ten. Downloaded it to image software to double check. Still got ten.

Maybe I am crazy?

You may be correct.
Attributing percentages to the 'knowns' puts the pin at or close to 3/8" dia.
Doing the same to thread count put me above 10 but it could be the angle of the pic.
I also have seen a piloted 10 but haven't fully grasped the concept. Why ?

It would seem a good way to crack a pilot, no? Not a lot of meat there and any lateral stress before it is screwed down would seem likely to crack it.

I have no idea of the reasoning. Many people have opinions about how different joints play and maybe they were looking for some ethereal quality of feel? Hard to say.

I like a piloted 14 joint. Old school. It works.

Isn't the Lambros Ultra Joint basically a piloted 3/8X10 pin? With modifications of course but at least from what I've seen (as I've never owned nor held one) it APPEARS to be some sort of 3/8X??? pin....... The pilot and joint collar seem a bit small/thick (pilot/joint collar) to be a 3/8 x anything...... I would honestly guess more along the lines of 5/16X14 or something along those lines based solely on what can be seen and the guessed dimensions i.e. inner diameter of the collar/pilot..... I could be VERY VERY wrong of course. But just figured I'd throw my hat in here lol.
