...

Europe will never be able to compete with the USA in one pocket.

There, does that light the fire?

Of course, recent evidence indicates the best pool players of any game are not american, anymore. C'mon, America! Dammit!!!

There, does that light the other fire?

Being from Europe I have a hard time finding anyone to play 1pocket with, learning any finer points of the game is virtually impossible unless some fine gentleman from US travels to Europe on vacation/job. Being decent 8/9/10/14.1 player I want to widen my horizons so to speak by learning the game of 1-pocket to some extent so I wouldnt humiliate myself if I happen to encounter true 1pckt player. I consider buying some instruction dvd, looking at seyberts.com I can see "Power 1pocket" and "Power 1pocket V2" from Freezer, also they have "Killer 1pocket" and "Finer points of 1pocket" from Profesor available.
Which one of those instructors would your recommend? Are Scott and Grady equally informative or is any of these guys superior to the other? Or any other dvd maybe?
The only one time I played 1pocket with true 1pckt player I won 3:2 when I was able to run 8-and-out and pulled off some crazy stuff about which my opponent said that I did watch too much of Tony Chohan vids ;) I was able to outshoot my opponent on pure firepower and some creative thinking but when it got to the moves he choked me like a python. So basically I want to get more knowledgable about the moves/tactics, about the break etc. so the next time i would be ready tactically.
Your suggestions?
Thank you
You're an amazing player, so I think old school players on Accustats DVD's would be the best for you:

Allen Hopkins
Nick Varner
Grady Matthews

And listen to the commentary!!!

The newer stuff with today's players, ... it's tough to tell what moves they are going to make since today's top players (Dennis, Tony, Alex) are just such top shelf shot makers and ball movers. Not that Hopkins, Varner, and Matthews aren't, but those guys alway seemed to default to the tradional way of playing one pocket (old geezer style with firepower).

ATTENTION! Due to an increase in printing and mailing costs I must increase the price of my book by $5.00 bringing the purchase price to $65.00 and free US shipping.
Still a bargain

100% positive response rate. Considered by all who have read this book to be the best book on One Pocket ever! Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.

For you guys living outside the USA the price of shipping is quite high, therefore I will do my best to work with you to help with your costs. I do have hopes that Europe will adopt One Pocket on a large scale. It began last year in the Netherlands and has been growing ever since. Got a long ways to go!

That is still inexpensive. A bargain at that price. Your book is worth more than $65. No hate mail please.

Only gotdamn hate mail you gonna get is for thinking you are gonna get hate mail for that. So you get hate mail.

Dammit!

Seriously though: $65?! There is literally a lifetime of knowledge in that book that one can call upon. Coming with one of those shots once will reimburse your purchase price.

I liked it so much, I bought it twice. For real.

I watched the first part of gentile/ Reyes 2011 last night.

Still awesome.

Cardone, Corey and frost miked up and having fun, fun, fun. Their dialog alone is worth every penny. Hilarious.

I did too, I think Chris held his composure fairly well, considering some of the traps. He really played well. I would love to hear his "take" on that match.

I also would watch anyone playing 1P, if those 3 amigo's were in the booth.;)

To the Op.... another "must watch" match:

Make it Happen 1P 2015 Efren -vs- Danny Smith (1P15-12D)

This is the first match they played, not the Finals.

This is the match, that Billy Incardone said, was the best 1P match he's ever witnessed.

1) Get Tom's Book.

2) If you're really serious about the game (and fabulously well-to-do), hunt down a copy of Winning One-Pocket.

3) Finally, I've heard good things about Alex Lely's 1p game over in Europe. You might want to arrange some coaching from him on the subject.

I agree with the winning one pocket book (1st edition). There is nothing bad about the 2nd edition - I just thought the first one was better. I would say it improved my one hole game at least a ball after reading. I will be purchasing a copy of Tom's book as well " a game of controlled aggression". That title is a real attention getter'. Plus I knew Tom and he is a stand up dude. I would add that one hole on a soft pocket table is way different than on a super shimmed box. I prefer to play on real shimmed equipment so I can focus more on lag' speed. On soft pockets it's less moving and more bank pool high speed banks. A shimmed table with deep shelf pockets is a much more interesting game for one pocket. I finished 2nd to Grady at the legends of one pocket, so while I'm not the best I can more than defend myself in the discipline of one pocket.

The same problem here in Finland, only a dozen players really appreciate the game and only a few can really play. I personally love 1pocket but it's really hard to learn the finer details when no one is playing the game. I mean you learn the basic tactics by reading books and watching 1pocket but it takes a long time to take your knowledge on the table and be able to execute those shots and know when to shoot and when to duck. Basically you need an opponent who can punish you from your mistakes. Then the real and hard learning process can begin :)

A dozen? Get em together snd fly me in. I promise you it will be worth your while
I didnt do all the trips to Red Shoes and Nola and DCC to keep it all for myself
I can have you work on a selection of shots
Just like exercises
Sort of standard moves, kicks, caroms etc. That will help you recognize quicker
It will speed up your learning curve

I suggest Tom’s book as well. I still consider myself a beginner at one pocket but the book really gives understanding of the how and why
