I wish I was allowed to go back to California. Been twice and had a earthquake both times. Think it is safer if I stay away.

Maybe as a special guest Tucker.
It would be super nice. Maybe Kenny has some magic way to convince you to come down here.

West Coast Cue Show

Big thanks again to The California Billiard Club for hosting the cue show and for organizing and running an 8ball Open Bar Box tournament with over $500 added. They put in A TON of effort and cold hard cash to support the show this year. I was happy to see they had over 70 players show up for the tourney! Plus, the WorldPPA ran another tournament that night on the other side of the room. When we came back from dinner at 10pm we couldn't even get on a table because the place was packed!

We all know the midwest and east coast guys have the best cue shows and events hands down. Believe me, we're all very jealous out here. I think the San Francisco Bay Area is arguably one of the worst areas for billiards (about as popular as a surfing is in West Virginia). Which is basically how the West Coast Cue Show came to be. We wanted to do something to generate some excitement for the players out here and get some education about the world of cue making. To make a showcase for cue makers to meet players and fans and discuss cues and building philosophies. Basically, just a fun afternoon for everyone to hang out and talk pool while admiring some amazing works of art.

I really want to thank everyone who came out to support the show, and pool in our area. It's a HUGE honor to me that these people would sacrifice their time, energy, and money to participate. Believe me, I don't think any cue maker is doing it purely for financial gain! They do it because they are fanatics and absolutely love the art of cue making and pool. I wish we could do more to support all of them.

Also got to meet some cool AZB guys too! Mortuary Mike (who ended up winning the shirt??), Poolhustler, and Speedy! Wish the day was longer and didn't go so fast so we could all have a drink and hang out. But thanks for coming out! Hope to see you next time.

Quick review

Kenny Koo -brought so much exotic leather I thought the Dept. Of Wildlife and Game was going to show up. He also showed off some incredible cues for some cue makers who couldn't make it to the show but still sent cues for support. Thank you Kenny Murrell, Robert Harris, and Richard Harris!

DJ - my accomplice and a big kid in a candy store. He's got a few solid cues himself. And plays a pretty sporty game of 14.1!

Kent Davis - great guy and makes some of the most beautiful cues! His laminated forearms are just crazy. The King of Burl!

Richard Chudy -legendary cue maker for a reason. The artistry in his cues is just incredible. I'm still dreaming about that cocobolo cue he made!

Jerry Mc Worter -another amazing cue artist and shoots pretty damn strong!

Riley Pitchford - Historian with way too much cue info. He also makes custom glasses for pool players!

Frank Nordmann -Best of luck with your new line of billiard clothing.. Play the Game clothing! Really nice stuff

Victor Lee- Really nice guy who came with a table FULL of cues for sale! He came early, and stayed late both days. Awesome!

Ken Mendoza- Jaide Billiard Service doing some on~sight repairs. He also does some sweet stack leather wraps!

John Bertone- aka 'John Kamui'. I dare you to try and stump this guy with Kamui tip questions! He also fishes, does pottery, and openly shares Italian family recipes when bribed with food.

Guerra Cues- Seriously nice cues Tony!

Tommie1351 and Michael- Thanks for spending your bday with us Tommie! I don't think I know anyone who has been around pool anywhere near as long as Tommie has.

Tom Coker- Make some beautiful cues and gold finger nails! His son is also a famous comic book artist who also makes movies. Honestly!

Howard and Steve- OMG!! They brought cues most people will never get to see in their lifetime. Mint original Balabushka's, Tascs, Shicks, Strouds, etc... There was a lot of jaw dropping at their display!

And last but not least Bob Flynn - Really really really nice guy. Wish I had more time to learn about his dragon skin technique. Crazy beautiful work. And his purpleheart break cues were the nuts! I'm definitely ordering one!

Thanks again to all of you for making this another awesome show!

Thanks Rex, DJ and KK.
Thanks to my buddy Kenny, the leather pimp, for booking to a nice hotel across the venue. Great pool place.
I wish there was one like California Billiards here in OC.
