5000 added handicap tourney in Cape Girardeau MO Feb 26,27,28

The entry fee is cheap, call Evelyn and she will give you your handicap.

If your handicap is too high, buy someone who you think has the NUTS.

After the tourney feel free to brag. Cause I am sending a couple guys down there who do not care what their handicap is and think they can win, no matter what Evelyn makes them.

The last event, Evelyn rescinded to the local handicaps and just stepped aside and let the locals tell her who was what, what indication is that will be different this year.??? JUST CURIOUS

Well maybe you are made of money, I am definitely not so it matters to me. Between gas, food, hotel, entry, quarters, tipping the waitresses, etc. It is an expensive trip to make. the reason I am concerned with my handicap is because sooooooo many people in these tournaments are under handicapped. Cape is just like Poplar Bluff but on a much bigger scale. Like anyone else that can't just give money away, I want a fair opportunity at a return on my investment. How can you have a problem with that?

I played in a rated tournament in Cape once before and was a B... I am always a B in Poplar Bluff, and have NEVER won. All I am asking is, with that info being public record, what will I go to in this event? ????????

Devin is how he spells it, he said 2nd place was Chuck Ralston

Mark:

1st Devon Mayes
2nd Justin Bergman
3rd ?????
4th Doug

This was a great tournament!!

But you came in 4th and do not remember who beat you?

So, 10/14/?/10 handicaps faired well. I just did not enjoy the 160 players jammed into that space. Sure you did as you were doing que repairs? Or was that a different event.

I think I will stick with the road less traveled and settle for a couple grand if I get lucky or a couple hundred if I do not.

Mark, you and several others on here claim to have gamble but the truth is most wouldnt bet that fat meat is greasy! You can knock the Cape handicap tourney all you want, just remember when Cape had a champion playing in their poolroom none of the STL champions could get there. Oh I forgot-none of them tried right? There was action last night, today and the entire weekend will be action. You are dead wrong when you say Evelyn of all people and her husband let the local players play underrated. Look where the money went genius! Devon-alton, raulston-bluff, doug-alton. Oh thats right all of your horses were scared to get out of the barn.Find something better to do than promote yourself or take cheap shots from the keyboard. (thats right no one from stl came to play Durbin when he was in cape, except for Farmington Joe and thats cause he is one of few that has heart.Cape and Bluff add more money to pool than the entire stl area combined-thats a joke. I was at last years tournament. I observed who set the handicaps. It was not Danny and Evelyn. It was Jessica and Bigg. Durbin is your champion? Does he want some of Justin Bergman>? I doubt it. Sammie Dyer at Rack Daddys in Quincy has invited you to an open invitation to gamble.

I think he stakes Jesse Bowman, and you can bet all you got.

Cape should be a good tournament, I have known Evelyn and Danny for 20 years and are good friends with them, it is just too bad that two events are being ran the same weekend.

As far as your malicous comments, I have no need to promote myself.
Cheap shots from the keyboards? At least what I put out on this forum is from me not from some made up screen name.

I have been to Cape and Popular Bluff and plan to visit both locations in the future when there is not a conflicting event where I can stake a player or two who will be playing heads up.:(:(:(:(

Pinegar

i will let hennessee play the kid some and you all can ship it!!!

I will have to contact Terry and Larry and see what kind of coin they want to put into play, but I am pretty sure it will be 5 figures.

It will be next week. Good luck in Cape.

I just spoke to Evelyn

Thanks Mark for the intrest I dont have the answers for all your questions.

But evelyn and danny will be doing all the handicaping you can contact them at 1-316-371-5805.

I know Devon Maze won it last year as a 10 and i think chuck raulston got 2nd as a 13 but im not posative evelyn will have all your answers.

Devin Mayes won last year.

Evelyn stated that she heard that I was bad mouthing her. Which is not the case, if you read this thread you will not see any sort of diss on Evelyn or Danny.

According to Evelyn handicaps will be set by committee. One that consist of 4 local Cape individuals and Evelyn and Danny to round out the committee of 6.

I wish you all well in your tournament but I have a schedule conflict with a race to 9 winner break tournament where I have a better chance of picking the winner in the auction.

Will check back sunday. to see if one of my sponsored players hit the board?

Is this the same format where my friend (who simply came as a spectator) was enticed to play in the tournament as a C player because the highest finisher got a bonus? Unfortunately, they screwed him out of the bonus because they didn't know him even though he only won one more match then another "C" player. Several spectators vouched for him and he still got the shaft....

Here is a anonymous PM I got

That this tournament got 200 players? Anyone know if this is close to the true entrants.

Guess it was only 128 players. With Oaklahoma dominating every phase of the tourney.

Gray/Compton/McMinn were all still in the winners bracket and I was told that the auction was 5 figures.

!28 after three hours of bullshit. Round one matches started about 3:15pm. I was not told what my handi was until hours after I paid my entry? Ended up being a 9. Lost to a super 5 from guess where in first round. I could have won if I played perfect.
BTW first match for me was at 6:00pm. Second match against John Thomas I think from cape also. He was a 8 and I spanked him 9-4, played good.
Third match at about 1:30 against Lutman lost hill hill. Left at 3am lutman still had three more matches to play to get to the next day. . Players from OK TENN IL IN MI AK KS IA made for difficult handicappin

Chip Compton !st blind bid 1200
Shane McMinn 2nd blind bid 1300
Andy Quinn, Tony Fargo, Chuck R
Sammy Cole?? strong player, Roger Griffits sp? strong player too

Any results from DOWN South????

Or will the results of this tournament and the handcaps of the finishers vanish, like last years except for the top 4????? AGAIN:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Does anyone have ther results?

Did the guys from Oaklahoma take all the cash back out Southwest?

We left after Chuck won the winners bracket. He was playing better than i have ever seen him play. If someone double dipped him, I will be shocked

Wanted to say a few things about the tournament.

Things I liked
1. Great pool hall! Lots of room, tables in good shape etc
2. Food was above average for a pool room
3. Friendly wait staff
4. Lot's of added money!!!!!

Things I hated
1. Starting tournament matches at 3:30AM. This was absolutely ridiculous IMO. It certainly cost me a chance at advancing
2. Some of the tables had mixed/matched balls and getting a good rack was almost impossible. An event of this caliber with 128 players should have matching balls.

It was alot fun, saw lots of old friends and made a few new ones. Congrats to Chuck, he really played well. If anyone watched the Quinn/Chuck WB final match, lets hear what you think about the shot Chuck hit on the 1 ball in rack #1... One of the sickest shots I have ever seen

Tournament Payouts

What was the payouts per place? tourney and calcutta

With 128 players @ $50 each $6400 plus $5000 added.
$11,400 in total payouts not counting the auction.

Does anyone know what the payouts were for this event?

Must have paid top 32.
