Hey Bob, good shooting last night!:D
Thanks. It was a lot of fun. We weren't sure what to expect, because it was the first shot at this, but I might have found a new night to hang at Comet.

The hardest adjustment to make was after the break. Your mind automatically starts to analyze the layout to see what your next shots will be, and then the tournament director removes the first 3 balls....

I really enjoyed stepping into the booth and joining John Bender on the microphone.

I watched a little of it , good chatting with Trusty, Spider and JohnnyT!

It seems like a pretty good deal for the room owner. For $100 he brings lots of people in to the place, they are probably all taking table time, perhaps eating and drinking, and he's only devoting 1 table to the tournament. And it's free to the players so no complaints there. From a business perspective I think they may be on to something with this.

The players seemed to enjoy it, and with the format certainly almost everyone has at least a shot.

I may suggest something like this to the management at my room. Only to move it along a little faster I'm thinking of suggesting he eliminate the whole breaking and potting thing and just put on a lagging tournament. Race to 1, single elimination. ;)

Ok..so I was there and played. One..there wasn't only C players playing. Trust me and if you want to give up some C player weight, me and a couple others will gladly oblige. Secondly, how isn't this good for the sport?? I watched the room owner pulling customers and other regulars (non-tournament, non action) in for this. They might not ever get a taste of winning your normal double elimination tournaments, but they do have a chance in a race to 1. And maybe they'll start showing interest in that every week AND then the regular weekly 9ball tournament.

Plus it's free, it's been streamed, and WTF else are people doing on Wednesday night!!!!!

Not to mention you got the likes of Pat Fleming there. Hall of Famer running the show...hmmmmm

I can't wait to see it online already!
It will be cool to see how I look playing, and with the commentary. I might feel like a real player for a minute!
The archive footage on the ustream site isnt working. But Bob, I heard from my wife that you were saying good things about me and my first game when you were in the booth - lol.

As far as the adjustment needed, I didn't have that problem but then again...I don't play as much 9-ball as you. I just looked at it like this : until the balls are removed it's almost like they are still rolling, know what I mean?
(I didn't actually get to break but I came to the table after the other guy broke and sank none, so I had to wait for the balls to come off)
After the balls are removed, it's the same game - only further along, and most times "easier". (not for a 4-ball runner like me tho)

A lag for the break may be better, but I see why Pat does it this way and I'm fine with it.

See you tonight Bob!
BTW, You're on 2.

I though the format was fun.. lots of pressure with the lights and camera and knowing a miss and you could be done for the night. Too bad I mis-cued in the Finals against Pat... I had him right where I wanted him :)

BTW I agree that the stream was good. One of the better pictures on full screen mode that I've seen, with some good camera angles. The banners in front of the viewing areas gave it a bit of a "pro look" as well, especially with all the empty seats :D

I wish more streams looked as good in full screen mode.

Funny - you're the third person to tell me that. I had the best view and didn't notice. I guess I was too distracted / surprised by the miscue to notice. Oh well.
