8 ball books?

I see "The 8 Ball Handbook for Winners" by Larry Schwartz advertised in Billiards Digest all the time. I hate the game myself, so I don't know of anything else. In my opinion, the best thing you can do for your 8 ball game is learn Straight pool.

If you play 8-ball on 7 foot tables, the best book out there is The 8-ball Bible, by Randi Givens. Specifically written to cover circumstances in barbox 8-ball, this book has hundreds of illustrations and diagrams covering all aspects of play.

If you play on the big table "Play your best 8 ball" is a good read. The 8 ball bible is good to, but it realy has a focus on the big cue ball and small table.

"The 8-Ball handbook for Winners" by Larry Schwartz is concise and not full of a lot of nonsense. He simplifies the strategy of 8-ball and has a few practice routines in his book as well. The book is 32 pages and all you really need for strategy advice.

My vote goes to Randi Givens

Randi Givens has done the most comprehensive study of the 8 ball game, especially the bar table variety. I highly recommend Randi's, The Eight Ball Bible. An autographed copy can be ordered off of this page:

the Beard

I posted my pool movie screenplay, "Roxanne's Game," in serial form on my website. Scene l and scene ll are available for perusing on this link: www.scriptforroxannesgame.blogspot.com/ It's loosely based on the road adventures of Jack and Barbara C**ney, and a few others.

"How Would You Play This?" by George Fels.
This book has sections on 14.1, 9-ball, & 8-ball. It just presents shots and you speculate how to play it and on the next page GF says what he thinks is the proper way to play it with the rational. It is not a complete book about playing any of the disciplines, but it is a good augmentation to the other books mentioned.
