8k Cue Raffle?

I see all the raffles, as well as all the opponents and proponents. My question is, do you think a high end cue could be raffled successfully? 40 spots at $200 for an 8k cue? I see the $75 mark didn't seem to stop the Southwest from getting action.

Opinions??

Im not sure if its possible but it wouldnt hurt to try it out. :cool:
 
Honestly it depends on how much demand the cue really has.... for example I am quiet sure if there was a raffle for a sugartree even if each seat is sold for 75 or 100 people would buy it, same for other reputed cue makers like searing etc etc etc....... Honestly the seller will be benefited as he will get more money for his cue, and investors or buyers (tickets) are in a way benefited as they get 10 or 20 times return on investment, having said that the winning ratio is only 1/42 and losing ratio is 41/42 per person.

I think it depends on the cue, and if the cue does have a fair market value of 8000.00, but I feel 200.00 might be pushing the envelope.....now 200.00 a shot for a Szamboti.....you might have something there.....

For the purpose of this thread, let's say it's widely percieved to have a market value of approx. 8k as well...:)

It really all depends on what the cue is.. But if I recall right the highest I have seen is $100 a ticket..


Might be hard to get in the 30's or 40's at $200 a shot. Unless as mentioned earlier it was something very desired like a Szamboti for example..

I'd like to clarify...I was thinking that the cues in the 5k+ range are, I believe, more than many AZ'ers can/would spend on a cue. It seemed that it might stir their interest to have a semi-affordable way to own a "monster".

So without a specific cue, but assuming it's one the majority would like to own....

Love hearing what others think.

It might be a little high for many that would like to own a "monster", as you put it. But you never know - all you can do is try it out. What is the worst that could happen - a bunch of the anti-rafflers go after you with well-versed posts:rolleyes:
All you can do is try - since you are not specific about the cue, how can we be specific about it being a great deal, and it will go off with complaint. Well, I will guess positively that it will not go off without one complaint, but as long as you fill your spots, make some money, and get somebody the chance of a lifetime - ISn't that what it is all about anyway?

I'm in for a Gus, Barry, or George as long as it is authenticated by an accepted authority and the cue is priced legitimately.

Its gonna depend largely on the cue.

If you're selling spots in a raffle for a Szamboti or a Schick or a Gina, you could probably sell 80 spots at $100 each rather than $40 at $200.

If its for a fancy cue by someone who doesn't normally pull $8k for his cues, you'll get a lot less action.

But like someone else said, it couldn't hurt to try it.
 
Keeping it honest, I guess that is a matter of trust. I like to maintain faith in my fellow man. What goes around does come around , you just might not be the one to see the satisfaction but it will happen. Call be optimistic.
 
If someone puts up a Gus for a raffle, I think they would get alot of action. Especially if the value is not too marked up, I'd have to take a $200 shot on a Gus.
 
I think $200 a ticket is a bit steep. It's a lot to pay for a 39/40 shot of getting nothing. As was mentioned before, you might have better odds at 80 tickets for $100 each, which also allows people to buy two and create a synthetic $200 ticket.

Of course, it does depend on the cue. A raffle for an authenticated Szamboti would draw interest at nearly any price.
 
If it is a Gus or Barry then there should be no raffle involve.... someone will be buying it up front ..guaranteed :)
 
8K raffle

I think $40 per ticket for a 100 tickets can work.

This totals to $4,000.00 USD for a James White cue.

(A life changing cue for some of us.)

If the cue is for 8000 above than u can have a raffle tournament.


you can sell tickets for 50usd to 4 sets of 42 people that comes to 8400

so if u take powerball as the draw there will be four winners.than in the next powerball these four people choose 10 numbers each and winner gets the cue.if number comes out of the 2 left out numbers than follow same procedure for next powerball untill winner is decided.
