I'd enjoy seeing to pros locking horns playing winner break race to 13 roll out 9 Ball.
Best two outta three sets....
Much more interesting than watching em play 10 ball, spot the ten call everything.
What you'll see with this Format.... Extremely Aggressive play, opening up clusters, moving into balls, if your hooked roll out.
2 fouls in a row BIH.
CB Kitchen on all first scratches.

Better players most always win with this format.

I grew up with rollout, but I have never agreed with the final sentence of your post. Yes, the better shot maker had the edge, but if you think that the better shot-maker is the better player, I do not. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Still, I'll take rollout over any call shot rotation game, so you can count me in for your idea, which might be a good one.

Problematically, most modern players have never even heard of rollout rotation pool, which was replaced by Texas Express in major tournament play in the early 1980s.

Call shot 10 ball the worst of all worlds. When I started to play in the color of money era it was bih. One guy from New York insisted on rollout when he played for money. So I saw it played but it was dead for all practical purposes. Way better than 10 ball IMO.

I agree about call shot 10-ball….it’s like a bunch of guys at a dive bar saying nobody is gonna luck out on me….nosirree

the new breed of players seem to want to see run outs over and over. as that's their goal by getting good.

old style had a great deal of strategy in the games.

i still like short sets as no one is out of it at anytime. so it keeps interest.

nothing gets a crowd excited as when the under dog gets close to winning or wins.

There’s a bunch of those guys here as well. Funny thing is, no matter where you find them, they’re the least likely to get out of racks on any kind of regular basis.
