9 Ball Book by David "Blackjack" Sapolis

Did anyone see this? This instructional book is from our own BLACKJACK here on AZ Billiards!

It's available in book form or download.

I got it and it is excellent.

One of the smart things is the binding is spiral so you can lay it flat on a pool table to set up shots. I dont know if this was on purpose but I recommend to anyone who is doing a pool "how to" book to make it so it will stay on the right page openned as you set up shots to try.

I wish him well and recommend to all my AZ brothers (sisters too).

Yup, I've known about it for some time. I'd really like him to finish the Straight Pool book, though.

reviews needed

Those that have read the book might like to follow the link to lulu and write a review. They don't have any yet and a review or two always helps sales.

Thank you Joey!

Ken - the book has ALWAYS been spiral bound so that it can easily be placed on the table - I do sell a hard cover edition of the book as well as the e-book download, but I recommend the spiral bound for the reasons that you mentioned.

Straight Pool Book
Kevin - I am working on the final edits for the 14.1 book. It is taking a while to complete that because for a long time it was just this mountain of unorganized information. At times, the work that involved in putting a book together can be a bit overwhelming. Sometimes I have 14 projects going on at once, so it gets pushed aside, but I do try to complete a little bit each day.

Once this edit is completed and the final product is put together, I am going to have a few of the best in the world look at it and make any corrections or additions to the diagrams and the text. Once those corrections are made, then it will be available.

So far it has about 400+ diagrams (I am trying to edit that down to about 300). The book covers everything from break shots, clusters, safeties, patterns and shot sequence, manufacturing break balls/key balls, secondary break balls, do's and don'ts, a very nice forward written by Steve Lipsky, and much more.

It is so important to support the people that work hard on writing and producing billiard books & DVD's- also available on Lulu.com from these authors -

Also support these other instructors and authors. We are not competitors, we are like a family. We trade ideas and insights into different areas of the game, look to each other for guidance, and above all else, we support each other. If we did not do that, there wouldn't be half of the information that you have available today. Support these instructors, they are all very dedicated to

Great post David.....and again, your book is first rate......it's funny how often the drills mentioned in the book show up the in game and really help you close out a rack....

Great news David! we will be waiting patiently! :)

Thank you David for all of your contributions, especially to this forum!

Could we get a little, small sampling of something from your book posted in this thread, you know, to kind of like, whet the appetite of those whom might be in the market for a good instructional book on 9 ball? Nothing in particular but perhaps something that you discovered late in your pool career or anything or your choice for that matter. It doesn't have to be lengthy either.

Whaddaya say BlackJack? Anything you care to share in this thread that might help someone's 9 ball game? (I know someone will say besides buying your book)

Joey

I do have several excerpts posted within the forums - the book is 5 years old now, so it would take a while to pull up all the posts - just off hand, I have a portion of the Safties section posted at this link

Excerpt -Lessons in 9 Ball - Unlocking the Safe

- and Reading The Rack

Excerpt - Lessons In 9 Ball - Reading The Rack

The book doesn't cover everything, I am sure I could have put more in there, but IMO, it serves its purpose to guiding players in the right direction.

Thanks to all!

I just downloaded Blackjack's "9 Ball Book" and although I've only briefly scanned it for a few minutes it appears to be well worth the cheap price I paid for it. It has some very interesting and high quality information on breaking, rack reading, gambling tips, and practice shots. Even if you only pick up a small amount of useful information from it (there appears to be lots of highly useful information), it's definitely a great value for only $6.25 to download.
