I just started playing 9 Ball. I have been playing 8 Ball and enjoy it. 9 Ball seems to be much harder or maybe just different.

What book or video has helped you with 9 Ball?

Get your hands on "Play Your Best Nine Ball" by Phil Capelle.

Like any other game, 9b has it's own feel. Mostly shot making and staying on the correst side of the ball to get to your next shot as far as running out is concerned.

IMO to play great 9b you must learn to kick, the safety game, and the brake, and I'm not talking about crushing the rack....I mean learning to read how the table brakes and adjusting correctly.

The shots really aren't different from 8ball, but the strategy is.

Me? I keep watching semi-finals and finals of 9ball tournoments in the 80ish and 90ish. That would help you ALOT.........>!

forget books or teaching DVDs. Really get the US Open Finals. and WPA Finals or Semi-finals.

Any game that has Efren reyes or Earl strickland or Nick Varner, or Johnny Archer, or Mike Sigel, or Buddy Hall, a 80ish or 90ish. buy them all! you'd love the game more :P

thats how I learned.

This is snooker oriented, but it packs more information into the first hour than any other video I've seen.

Would help to know how they were getting position on the next ball wouldn't it?

I agree to a certain extent that watching pros is beneficial to see how they are playing patterns, but, seeing the OP is fairly new at the game, (just playing 8 ball), he should learn the correct shots in order to get him to the correct angles to play 9 ball.

My book Lessons In 9 Ball covers everything from the break to safeties, reading the rack, position, drills, etc. The book is filled with diagrams - 216 pages - spiral bound so you can bring it with you to the pool hall and lay it flat on the table. The link to the site is in my signature below.

PM me if you have any questions.
