9' Diamond Pro-Am (single piece slate) delivery report

Today, I installed:
- (2) Bridge holders under the table, one each side...the pooldawg hooks are plastic, however, which disappointed me....wanted black.
- chalker thingy
- Delta-13 rack mount

I am using Brillanize now...Seems that it would leave less residue than the Meguiars wax.

Attached is a picture of the rack (house cues still not used). It's an older Brunswick Centennial that I got the "last" of. Probably ~5 years old?? Not something in the current Brunswick catalog from what I can see. The cool thing about the rack - the center holds a set of balls..

Thanks for getting back to me. Really like the rack. I wish Diamond would make a free standing one as well. I also checked the Brunswick catalog...no luck unfortunately:(

I saw the post by SD billiards..on the varying color of "Black" in diamond wood. I also have the black diamond wood and I can tell you it is closer to black, which is what i wanted.

All the best to you and your wonderful room..
Enjoy...

The Dymond wood comes out differently every time, sometimes dark and sometimes light as you got.

More table colors...

Wish I knew they had this type of variation beforehand...would have specified more "black" - as shown on the website...oh well.

Noticed some shipping scratches

As mentioned previously, the only bad news (other than the 5 month wait and 1.5 month time that my table was in a truck/on a trailer) was the extensive amount of dirt on the table and felt, water in the wood (15-17% on the day of delivery - now 6%), the stickers (which were easily removed), the knicks in various parts of black wood (repaired by me with a miniwax ebony pen), and the scratching from shipment shown in this email.

I thought Glen got these marks out using Counter-top Magic...but they came back...the following is a picture of the edge of the table that was on the bottom of the cart and I believe against carpet on the table dolly. The length of the marks line up with the length of the dolly.

2 questions:
1. What do you guys use to clean the black part of the table - mine is becoming a mess...smears everywhere.

2. Any way to remove these scratches from shipping? They appear to come out while the Countertop Magic stuff is wet...but then come right back.

Thanks, -mark

just 2 questions . . .

I wanted each eye bolt to be center stud, just because I'm crazy.

I could probably move it 1" by just moving the holes in the 1x4 on the light...But 2" is pushing it.

Turns out that the studs/light are just 2" from the optimal position of the table in the room...which is how we centered it...silly me - my mistake.

1)How crazy , are you , really ?
2) is that a 1 or 2 story structure ?

If it's a single story structure , and you have access to the attic/crawl space/trusses above the table , you could simply go up there and sister the trusses , allowing you to move the light over while maintaining the structural support and rigidity . Could be WAY easier than moving the table !

Jest a thought . . .

1. Very crazy. Do you need to ask after reading this thread? To my credit, I warned Diamond. :)

2. 1-story structure. Cannot access the space above unfortunately...If so...I would have engineered some crazy structure above...as you mention.

I clean the formica on my tables with windex. Mark, this is a players table. Put the rags away and grab your cue

Nice table and even more, awesome room! Having not to worry about walls or poles or obstacles while playing is the best part of having a room that size. It looks as though you designed the room around the table!( which I'd be willing to bet you did!) With that being said, I would be tempted to complain to Diamond about the various differences in the color of "Black". It would just be tough to swallow paying that much money for something and getting something a little different, not to mention the scratches on the side.

And as picky as you are(just guessing from this thread!) this is something that will probably bug you for a while. But I guess knowing that it would take several more weeks to get exactly what you wanted might not be worth the wait. And I guess if I was in your shoes, I would probably just adapt to the 'grayish' black.

Have fun with your table and enjoy it!!! :woot:

Gorgeous room man. I hope everything works out for you. Seems to be like a decent amount of aggravation, but all in all looks to be well worth it. Hell of a setup.

I was quite used to the "short stick" playing in my basement 30 years ago...working around walls, etc...

I'm less annoyed by the color variation...than I am by the dirt and scratches...I didn't expect those in a new product.

Folks, I realize this is a very old thread however, the story as it unfolded has left me with a few concerns about buying a Diamond table.
(1) WHY was the condition that this table was delivered in considered acceptable?
(2) WHY did it take so long? The deposit is non-trivial and could earn interest in one's own account over such a long period.
(3) Am I to understand that this table was transported exposed to the elements or was it at least enclosed?
(4) If a product is purchased as NEW it should be NEW.
(5) No, Aramith Pro (Duramith) Balls do not come in a zip lock bag. They come in a nicely packaged box.
(6) Did you get a bulk deal on a tournament used table and accessories? That would explain everything.

Thanks!

PGBrian

Well, I hope the man got used to the color and other imperfections an grew to enjoy the wonderful setup he was able to provide hizzelf.

That setup is 98.87963% perfect.

More playing, less anal-izing!

ahhh...yes, they do, it's a zipper inclosed carrying case designed for the balls to be stored in. Did you read anywhere in this thread that a 110ft, 30ton crane was used to lift the table to the back deck? The table was as perfect as could ever be delivered, scratch marks were actually rub marks from the packing card board between the bottom of the table body and the plate on the dolly that the table sits on, unavoidable wear/rub marks after traveling 2,500 miles on a dolly.

But, now that I understand your concerns about buying a table....Brunswick sells a great GC5 I'm sure you'd be interested in....way better than any Diamond, built just for customers with your extreamly high demands;) But, if you do decide to buy a Diamond, please let me know, as I think I'll call in sick that week;)

What stickers are you speaking of. I'm ready to order, but not sure the stickers you mentioned. I know it is the Diamond name on it, which I think is engraved in the "wood".... what else is there ?

Also, I don't think I'd be to "happy" if the rails are scratched and/or water logged. But I think I'm less than 300 miles from Diamond warehouse.... Glen, you better call in sick on my table too :)
