9 ft table lighting

I have a 3 shade (100 watt bulb) Tiffany style light bar that worked fine on my 8 ft table. I then upgraded to an a 9 ft table and the lighting is absolutely horrible. There are shadows on a clear table, and very dark shadows on all the balls.

I'm looking to upgrade the light fixture and am having a difficult time finding good information. What is everyone using for their 9 ft tables and what do you recommend?

What he said. I have quad 6' fluorescents, but if I had it to do over again I would probably go for dual 8 foot high intensity fluorescents. The 6's are bright enough, just a little uneven light at the ends.
 
I have a dual 8ft florescent (actually 4x 4ft bulbs) that hangs about 4 1/2 feet above the table. It lights it up like the surface of the sun. To be honest it is a bit overkill. I could probably take 2 of the bulbs out and it would still be fine. I was on a serious budget when putting the light together and did not get a light with any kind of hood on it. It doesnt bother you while playing but if you are watching others play it can be a little annoying due to the brightness. Also due to the brightness I hung it a bit higher than originally intended to minimize how often you would look directly at the light.

My room is a bit unique though as I live in a very large studio apartment, about 1300 sq ft with about 15 ft ceilings. So the light I have pretty much lights up the entire place. The picture below actually looks a little dark but I can assure you it is anything but.

This cost me about 120 bucks with the fixture, box of bulbs, wiring, chains and mounting hardware. The only pain in the ass about the whole thing is that none of these type of lights come wired so you have to do it yourself. Nothing daunting really but would be nice if you could just plug them in and go.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I also just got a 9ft table and really don't want to go with the Diamond style light. Can I use a 4 or 5 ft light like the ones below to get adequate lighting? Are there any pros of going with the Diamond light vs the lights below?

2-four foot quad flush mounts

I went with 2 four foot flush mount for tile ceiling lights and made a box for them ... Worked great i will post a picture in a sec gotta resize....

Bout 4 cans a day

Yea getting this table almost done glen Hancock coming over today to tighten up the pockets then I will be all set....

I have a 4 bulb light kinda like the first one shown. It works great lighting up my 9ft table. I used bright white 120w bulbs and don't have any shadows whatsoever.
 
No shadows

None at all? I have about a 1/2 ring on the bottom but they are even all the way around the ball. Rails are nice and bright.. I might have to take a pic of that one too. Wonder what par requirements are for pro tables. Or do they even go by par values? Do they have any specs ?
 
I went to a pool room that has 3 lights on a 9ft and the balls had 3 different shadows under them..lol. Guess I'll have to go with the Diamond style light.
 
Chrome plated brass light

I have one light left. Here is the post that shows pictures and info. Make sure you look at pics towards end of thread - after they were just wiped down. I 'might' still have some unused bulbs also.

This is really a good light - retail was around $950 in around 20 years ago. No dents etc. These were custom built by C.W.Choice. Have a 23" center to center, which gives good and complete coverage on a 9' table.

Price is negotiable.

Built it

Yes i built the light I used 2ftx4ft flush mount 4 bulb fixtures 2 of them they are used in tiled ceilings then i built a box to mount them in.
