9ball World Championship, Doha, Qatar 2013 Sep 7th -

Look at that list and try to pick a favorite. Makes your head spin.

I wish it were 10-ball because that's more challenging, but alas, I'm not running the tournament.

You are right, but i am sure DAS, Dennis, Lee Van, might flirt with the top spot, i know Efren is in the mix, but who knows he might scare someone!! or maybe DAS , He Wee Len (Last year's match) 12-12 again!!

Van Boening, Saez, Deuel, Lombardo, and Wilkie are the only U.S.A. players. No Hatch, Strickland, Morris, Archer, ect.

1 Chance • 2 Chances

Looking at the player's lists.

What is meant by "1 Chance" & 2 Chances" (next to player's name) ?

There sure seems to be a lot of Filipino names that I haven't seen before....

I think they pick three winners players to qualify for Stage 2 (pro event); where as all players already in Stage 2 are pros and been qualified

Her is the exact wording from the web site:

Stage 1 players All players in good standing with their national federations are eligible to enter, upon accomplishing the entry form and paying the entry fee. There are three qualifying tournaments for 1st chance, 2nd chance and 3rd chance. Maximum number of the entry application will be 128 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis those who can participate in 1st chance, 2nd chance and 3rd chance tournaments.

Stage 2 players 128 spots in the Stage 2 of W9BC. Players gain entry through,

Defending champion
The WPA Rankings ( the top 24 players in the WPA ranking system are guaranteed spots).
Allocations on their continental federations.
Qualifiers from Stage 1 qualifying tounaments.
Wild cards of the WPA and the organizers.

Van Boening, Saez, Deuel, Lombardo, and Wilkie are the only U.S.A. players. No Hatch, Strickland, Morris, Archer, ect.

Johnny didn't pursue the original invitation to play. Presumably because he expected to be playing Bonus Ball when the World 9 Ball was on.

When it became clear that there would no clash Johnny asked me to help him to get into the event. But as there was a firm closing date for entries the WPA refused his request.
But they did say that if any US player dropped out then JA could take his place.

So if anybody knows if Shaun Wilkie, Rob Saez, Hunter Lombardo or Corey Deuel are not 100% confirmed they let me know.

But Stage 2 starts on 7th so time is tight

Seems to me, those other guys were involved with BB also. So, you snooze, you lose. He's supposed to be their "leader", yet he's the one that misses out. hmmm...

No Ronnie Alcano and Johann Chua. i wonder why.

Johann Chua is in Stage One
Ronnie is not sponsored and cannot afford to travel I am sure if he put himself about a bit he could pick up someone to fulfil that role.
