A Cautionary Tale...

Man, Mark. That sucks.

Enjoy your time "away". Good on Mr. Tucker for offering to hook that up for you!

Get home soon and we will play some pool. I'm going to guess that when you are home, that you moved along with the rest of your colleagues off base to the new locale? As for me, I'm PCSing in May. Hit me up!

Matt

I definitely feel for the OP. I was in a similar situation and I just received the cue I sold back today. I had actually read the original post before my cue was delivered. Thankfully, my cue was still in great condition and I can't wait to get out of class so I can go hit a few balls with it. I'm glad that Mr. Tucker is taking care of you because I know exactly how distraught I would be if this happened to me!

Happy to hear it worked out for you, zeeder. That cue of yours is a beast, and I'm glad to hear you have it back where it belongs. In one piece, no less!!

What the heck did he try to do with the collar ?
Heat it up to replace it then changed his mind ?

Makes ya wonder, doesn't it??

According to the seller, it wasn't like that when he shipped it to me.

I explained to him that one of two things happened.

1. It was EXACTLY like this when he shipped it.

2. A tiny USPS Gremlin was inadvertently sealed inside the box...complete with tiny rock hammer and blowtorch...and went to town on the cue for 10 days while in-transit to me. (I have a photo of the little bastard. See my new Avatar).

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that option 1 is the correct choice.

But, hey....he got his money, right?

I'm guessing he really went in there and find out the secret to that joint.

That really sucks Mark. This place never ceases to amaze me.

Last week I offered a cue in trade for another cue + cash. The other party comes back and says I can't add cash to my cue for the cue you are offering, but asks... what about another cue on your site + X amount of cash for my cue... I say sure, that sounds fair. He comes back later and says I found out my cue is worth more than I thought so I am backing out of my offer. But he goes on to say he will trade his cue for the original cue I offered but is has to be a straight up trade... I really liked his cue so I agreed and said let's do it!

He sends a PM back stating, and I quote, "We have a deal". We make shipping arrangements last Friday to ship out on Monday and all is good. Sunday I get a PM and he says, I got a better cash offer on the cue and I'm backing out of our deal!!! It wasn't like he asked... hey, I really need cash and I got a full cash offer. I know we have a deal and will stick to my word if you really want the cue, but I would appreciate it if you would let me sell it for cash, it would really help me out.

No... it was just... I got a better offer I'm backing out. I can't tell you how many times I have agreed to a trade or trade + cash, only to get a full cash offer right after I made the deal. But I have never backed out of a deal without asking the other party and giving them final option. When is a deal a deal anymore... and when will people start backing up their sales???? It is getting out of hand.

Props to you Murray for helping out a great AZ'er. That's the way it is supposed to happen.

He does that a lot I hear....and I wasn't involved:thumbup: apology accepted:D

He'd better run, better run, outrun Mark's gun...

Please note this is not in literal sense, but a figurative manner in which Mark may "spit bullets" via the int4rw3b... This is not a threat of violence in any regard.

Straight up no excuse for that! Murray's cues don't just fall apart....gimme a break! And as far as the other....I have sold cues back to their original owner, and trust me, they were as nice as nice could be when returned....shafts cleaned and conditioned, new tips , if necessary, and cleaning and polishing of the butt section. I would have been mortified to return them in any other condition. Absolutely no excuse for misrepresenting a cue like that!!!!

Mark, Murray will make her as good as new, I am sure. I have to agree that outing the seller would be a good way to warn others.

There must be something wrong with me then. On a cue I recently listed, I came to an agreement for cash and trade and then the next day I got a full cash offer but told the cash offer "too late, I already made a deal" I don't understand how "it's a deal" doesn't register as DONE and FINAL to people

Sorry to hear this Mark . It had to hurt to see how much abuse the cue had taken since it left your hands. Murray is top-shelf to make someones elses wrong right. I'll definately buy him dinner and a few beer if I run into him at the SBE. Sorry you won't be there.

Matt

Wow...

Tell me who it is and I will karate chop his a$$. :slap:

I'll tell ya what, that Murray is quite the gentleman. All kidding aside, his character and actions go well beyond what the typical cuemaker would do.

I'm sorry you have to deal with poo like this because of Internet jacktards. I hope you're reading you piece of $hit.

Be well,
Chris

Mark, that really sucks. I really feel for you, as we've recently discussed...timely, huh? But to have an offer from Mr. Tucker to make it right just goes right to your character and karma. Should be better than new and I bet you'll be a happy camper, as I know how you develop relationships with certain cues. One day before I die I hope to have a chance to play with a Tucker, or even better yet, own one. But I have never seen one at 18 oz. and I hear I don't have a prayer of getting on a list, and I'm too old anyway. Joey, did you say there was a hidden joint in there?
:p

I'm very very sorry for what happened, but as you now realize a lesson is learned.

1. Never buy something used without pictures....ever. I am not defending this guy IN THE LEAST, but what someone might say is in good condition you probably will not. As for that joint collar, and this is just a wild guess, maybe a non pressurized(plus the cold) cargo hold caused the epoxy to fail and vibration made it spin a bit? The line on the ferrule looks like it was from a tip job where the chuck wasn't tight enough and it spun in the collet.

2. Murray is a pretty awesome guy!

THE MORAL OF THE STORY, KIDS:

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. KNOW WHO YOU'RE DEALING WITH. DON'T TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED, AND TAKE NOTHING ON FAITH (OR HOPE)...UNLESS YOU HAVE A SOLID HISTORY WITH THE PERSON YOU'RE DOING BUSINESS WITH.

I have no dog in this fight, I have no part of this deal gone wrong.:embarrassed2: BUT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AS A BUYER, AND SELLER HERE ON AZB IS ALL GOOD.:)

I have treader Buyers as I would have like to be treated as a Buyer, and Sellers like I would have like to be treated as a Seller.;)

Or as they say one Bad Apple  don't make all the Apples on the TREE BAD.

Cue

How can I WILL REFUND YOUR MONEY = I got screwed. The cue did not leave here in that condition. You just want to drum up some drama and play the victim.

Mark
