Here are 2 of my Gus Szamboti's..
How many Gus' with Double Black, Double White venners have you guys seen.. I know not many.

Gus Szamboti cues.....

Ken,
Great looking Gus cues you got there:thumbup: , that would be the first time I see this Gus cue with
Double White and Double Black Veneers on Gus cues.

one weird thing about that cue is that it looks like a four point cue with a six maple box sleeve. the ring work is also 6 dashes. something Gus was known for. the only thing is the 'dashes' in the sleeve and ring work look a bit short in length and thick. not like what i'd expect from Gus. looks more like how Barry would do them. strange..........

Gus did many variations of rings and other techniques.. Shorter dash ring in a 6 window cue is nothing weird..
Not really sure that would relate to a common practice for Barry either..
I can assure you it is all Gus..

Question

I have owned my Corvette for years. I was always told that it was worth a bunch more as a parts than it is for the entire car...(sad but probably true)

My question is I wonder how many cues are out there that are "GUS" and how many are "GUS" like?

I am sure that these are the real deal, but it just seems that "BALABUSKA"s and "GUS" cues continue to come out of the woodwork.

ANYONE HAVE A GUESS AS TO HOW MANY OF THE ORIGNAL GUS CUES ARE STILL OUT THERE? 80%? 90%?

Its really hard for a guy like me to think that even half of them survived.

Sorry if this is off topic but these great cues sure put the question in my head.

Hard to know how many survive.. Many copies were done in the 80's-90's, that's why most cuemakers were asked to sign their cues..
Having them authenticated is a standard practice today..
Alot of Szamboti's and Bushka's have found private collections..
So, they come out every once in a while..

Ken....that is a great question. I have no educated answer to the how many real ones are still out there. But we all know that phonies are also all over the place and they are out there. It does make it a very complicated decision when thinking of buying one.

I also think that any cuemakers that made phonies, and is still making cues, should be exposed to all of us. I personally would never buy a thing from any of them

not doubting it was a Gus at all Ken. i just know that it was more customary for Gus to use thinner and longer dashes than shorter fatter ones when doing a six rotation......i'd never seen one like this before.......

I understand what your saying.. I've seen Gus do many variations..
This cue has alot of interesting things, including the double Black, double White veneers..

Ken, that is only the second one I have seen with the double black/white veneers. The one I have also has the original shipping box.

Ken, it is a different look and the points are striking. the picture only tells half the story, you have to see the cue in person to appreciate the workmanship!
