A Few More Fancy Josswest Cues

I Love Box Cues
Silver Member
Hi All,

Here are a few more Josswest cues currently laying on one of my small coin-operated prohibition-era pool tables. The cues are some of my ebony, ivory, silver, turquoise and mother-of-pearl cues. I also have other groups (with red coral, box cues, etc.).

These pictures were not taken in the best lighting, and I did not take any time to position cues better, etc, but you get the idea. They look good as a group. Several of these have only been at my home since new. I hope you enjoy them. BTW, check out the various ring work designs in these cues. Stroud was a ring work master.

The center cue, a form of box cue, has black lip mother of pearl inlays perfectly and flawlessly set into ivory one-piece "boxes", no glue lines at all, just a perfectly executed cue. Very high on the difficulty scale, particularly when this was made.
The second one from the left with the engraving ring work done by Stroud also has very, very fine silver veneers along all the points.
The second cue from the right is similar in design (not at all in materials) to the Hand of the Masters calendar cue of the mid 1990s.
The fourth cue from the right (with the chrysocolla, ivory and silver diamonds) is the only starburst forearm cue of its kind by Stroud.

(Notice the antique round chalk on the rail of the table from the early 1930s, at the time the table was made in Chicago).

All wonderful! Thanks for the peek, Will.
I especially like the butt sleeve that has what looks like curtains draping. Reminds me of the old movie theaters around town:-)

Hi there Mr. Davis!

Hope everything is going well.
Funny you would mention curtains, because Rhoda and I have called this cue the curtains cue for many, many years.
Exactly what I think it looks like too.....draping curtains!

They're ALL special but the middle cue and the two on the right are my faves..

Will, when's the calendar coming out? ;)

Hi Will, seeing all these photos reminds me of the days that I couldn't wait for John Wright to mail us new pictures and salivating over the new Josswest cues he might be listing for sale. That was a good time.

Awesome cues..............thanks for sharing,
Jimmy

Love the one in the middle the best.

Will, your collection is what really turned me on to box cues. I'm so happy you post pictures of the cues you have instead of just tucking them away for nobody to see.

You should post a thread with your top 3 favorites sometime. I think it would be interesting to see which make your 'top' list.

Thanks for posting the pictures, let me know if you're free this Thursday to talk.

tons of monsters on that little tabel....thanks for sharing a small portion of one the greatest collection of pool cue in the US......

Hi Will
Thank you so much for posting this cues :):):)
Just a look on them made my day better and has taken me in wonderful imaginary world,or better to say a world of its own.
Anyway, these cues, are stunners. Each one of them is so special and as you mentioned those ringworks on them are fantastic and they have put the cues on even higher level, in other dimension.
Well, even if they wouldn't have any ringwork, those cues would still be monsters.
:):):)
Thank you for sharing these cues with us.I know there are many others here who are crazy for pool cues as well, and are highly appreciative too,but for me and for those who are from overseas and are not often able to see a part of history and to witness these beauties in person, posts like this are treasures:wink::wink::wink::)
Thanks

Wow...just now noticed these...what a great group of JW's.
