A little preview....

For those of you that just like looking at cues and might be interested, here is a little preview of a cue that Gilbert is building for me. This one has been a few years in the making and we are finalizing some of the last details, additional inlays and the engraving/scrim work. It should be ready and going to the collector's show in Houston late next month. I'm mostly partial to plain, traditional styled cues, so this design is a bit out there for me, so we'll see how it finishes up. We stayed pretty close to what I had originally drawn up, but we encountered some things along the way that required changes, which sometimes is the case. It certainly adds to the fun, challenge, and anticipation.

Feel free to let me know your thoughts, likes or dislikes. We're all friends here and it's all good. Also......we're in need of a name for this cue. Any suggestions from you all are appreciated.

I must say that working with Andy is always a joy. If you haven't and are considering ordering one from him, he needs to be on your "to acquire shortly" list.....

wow....

Personally I liked it before I had the inlays in it, but that cue is very nice. Maybe I can get one just like it minus the inlays? If only I had the money...

Nice Gilbert

This cue is shaping up nicely. I like the symetery and the color combinations as well. Although not politically correct and of course I don't care about being politically correct anyhow, I would name this cue the "Wild Indian" due to the western theme in the inlay pattern. Can't wait to see it with the finish.

Fantastic looking cue, I love the way the handle is designed, beautiful!! And yeah, Andy is a funny guy, great person also. I would like to add a cue from him to the collection in March at the Expo. I hope he has got another nice wrap less like yours, good luck with the cue. Please post photos when the cue is finished.

Nice cue!!!

Andy does great work. Where is the scrimshaw gonna be??. I like the shaft, it looks like a player. This cue when finished is going to be beautiful. Nice job with the design.

The scrim is going to be in a few places....inside all the peacocks, ivory bands, and also the straight cut diamonds that are inlaid over the pink ivory zig zags. Nothing heavy, just outline accents and a engraved chain in the ivory rings.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I was thinking of some kind of Indian name as well and "Wild Indian" nails it nicely! That is a really pretty Gilbert cue. I like the way the colors work.

Gilbert make a great cue

I've got to thank the Cue Addicts for being patrons of Andy's work. Thanks to buyers who recognize his great talent, we all get an occasional glimpse of something magnificent. I've bought 6 Gilbert cues so far and loved every one of them. Great work Andy...and props to the addicts for sharing the latest project. I love it.

Beautiful cue...
Andy has carved a great name for himself.. Andy's work has been gaining the attention of all cue collectors.. Great new designs and superb attention to detail, make Gilbert cues very sought after...
I took my own advice and made sure to order something..
Andy is making me something special.. Hopefully ready, so I can display it at the ICCS show in Houston as well...
Best,
Ken

Is the "little preview" of your Gilbert cue, an insinuation that there may be some cue nuts on this forum that would be interested in viewing and or acquiring it?

GinaJo

I'm gonna call it the GinaJo by Gilbert. I see Gina. I see Navajo Indian. Andy built it so there you go. :D

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. Yes, it's pink ivory and the piece we used had some distinct curl to it in places. Hopefully the finish will accentuate that.

Lisa, I'm kind of digging your "Indian Sunset"....that may end up being it. Ironically, when I was first thinking about the cue, I really wanted to focus to be more on the peacocks and not on it being an "indian theme" per se. Will have to see if the effect stays the same with all the added scrim. The ivory rings in the handle are getting a real dress up, too, so that may change the overall look further. Will post pics asap.

Gian & Ken, thanks for the comments on Andy's work. He's really becoming a one of the masters. And to think, he does all this mainly old school, without any CNC. That Gilbert's a real wizard at working through things and finding a good solution that works for him. And we're very happy to have been able to sell a lot of his cues along the way !! His primary focus is still on the players. That's certainly one of the things we like best about his cuemaking philosophy. If you all haven't heard his interview on the action report site, you need to.

cueblues, I haven't planned on having this one for sale, but guess down the road anything's possible...... :)

Great cue Sean. The final design turned out very nice. I am partial to Lisa's "Indian Sunset" name....seems to fit the cue perfectly. I think I need a name for my new Kikel. ;)

And Gian, thanks for adding that pic of your box cue to your avatar. That cue is a knockout and complements your Schick well !!

Thanks for posting the pics, it is fun to look at

Damn, boy. Gettin' a little fancy aincha?

I like it but I don't know if I could bring myself to play with it. If I dinged it I would not forgive myself.

I thought you might like that one. :D It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the cue. It is what I would call it if it were my cue. ;)
