I would also like to meet some fellow AZ posters. I will be at the Diamond Billiard Products Booth. Please stop by to introduce yourself. There will several other AZ'ers there; Me (Mark Griffin), Greg Sullivan, Sunnydayu wil be there a little. SpiderWeb has been known to show up as has Wei (Cue Table).

I will be around the booth most of the time, however, this year I am gonna play in the open amatuer event. I also have a lot of people to say "hi" to - so it will be hit or miss at the Diamond Booth.

Hope to be able to put a fewe more names and faces together.

Rob,

That party was put on by AZ's own Jeeves. But after a few years of some fallings with people whom told him they would help foot the bill, he has deceided that last year was the last. The event he put on, I'm sure out of pocket expenses had to be close to 10K for the 3 day event. I will surely miss the meet and greet parties, as it gave me a chance to listen to some great stories of the old days and to meet some wonderful people in the industry.

I think the out right theft from his tip jar and of bottles of booze had something to do with it as well. The passive lack of contributing was bad enough, the theft of money and booze was way over the top.

Please post Time and Place

Great idea.. please keep us informed of when this is going to take place.

Jay,
Kind of on a side note. I understand you were involved in trying to start a similar event in LA (the one the accu-stats 8-ball round robin was at). It really mystifies me why it didn't work in a market like LA. Have you any insight that might explain why it didn't continue.

We held the Los Angeles Billiard Expo in 2000 and 2001. The one in 2001 came less than six weeks after 9/11. Many exhibitors canceled and many out of town players did not come. I lost pretty good on that one, and haven't tried it since.

To produce an event of that magnitude in Los Angeles requires a minimum of $75,000 to $100,000 in up front money. Contrary to what anyone may think, I'm not a wealthy man. That's big bucks for me.

I would need a $50,000 sponsor to consider doing another one. Then I would take the risk for the rest.

I wish you luck getting somebody to step up, the west coast deserves an SBE equivalent. I really enjoy those accu-stat tapes btw, a round robin tourney with invited players I think is a great idea and my favorite player won. I also liked it being 8-ball, there isn't much 8-ball around on tapes.

I will be the guy in the bar beating Gerry out of beers all night!!!! Seriously I live a mile from the venue so if anybody needs anything or has any questions let me know and I will try to help any of you guys with whatever.

If the west coast gets a VF equivalent, then we east coasters demand some pool players move out east, since the bulk population is out west!

Hey Don,

I'll be heading to Valley Forge after work this evening, hope to see you and Sue on Saturday, Abbassi wanted me to say hello to you for him when I see you, so just in case we don't run into each other on Saturday I'm saying hello now, ha ha!

I won't look like this this time. :D I am looking forward to seeing you there.

The Sterling Pavilion

is a great place to meet. Many AZers make it a point to come and meet at our booth and play on our 9 footers.

Actually, there are two different bars where you may run into anyone at any time, Chumbley's in the lobby of the Radisson and the Blue Grotto in the Scanticon.

A couple of years back, a bunch of us AZ'ers met up on Saturday night in Chumbley's and had a nice evening getting to know one another.
Take it from Railbird , he knows every bar in the county.
