Dont let them get you down its not there job to judge you or anyone else. The haters are gonna hate let em hate. If they were any better we would hear about them going pro

Well said, Jerry, and so true. :)

Pro-caliber players today seem to be more like independent contractors. There is not much unity, which is needed in order to have a professional tour.

Being chief cook and bottle washer for years in my own industry, I recently signed on with a group in a salaried position. I no longer have to multitask and can now concentrate on doing what I do best. The end product is nothing short of excellence, if I do say so myself. :grin-square:

When people can work together as one unit, the sky is the limit. When you watch this video, it demonstrates what a difference working together for a common goal can do ---> HERE[/
Everybody wins when it's team effort!

Thanks for posting the link, that was truly awesome.

OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS THERE HAS BEEN A PATHETIC GROUP OF HATERS & CRITICS ATTACKING WOMEN POOL PLAYERS ON PUBLIC POOL FORUMS, IT IS DISRESPECTFUL AND PATHETIC, IT IS IN POOR TASTE AND IT SYMBOLIZES THE WORST EGO IN THE POOL WORLD

I didn't know of you as a pool player until your 'photoshoot' thread here on AZB. And regretfully, I'm appalled by your attitude. You fail as a pool player, so you decide that it's a good idea to take off your clothes to attempt to sell a 'sexy' women to the masses. You made a mistake by trying to market yourself in a manner that isn't pool. Here's a hint of advise; if you want guys to take you seriously as a pool player, keep your clothes on. It's not marketability, its exploitation.

Women use the sex angle for marketing purposes and then get upset when they are viewed as sex objects.

How dare you make sense here

Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Its all good though if it works use it.I just object to self characterizaions that completely out of line. JB could rob you spotting the 7 out.

Whatcha gonna do when beauty fails and your game is still at this level?

A little humility is in order, that and a ton of practice.

Im not judging anyone but im confused on whats being marketed and how they are expecting to generating revenue. Pool players make money from winning tournys. What is the product being marketed? PPV, Photos, books, Clothes, etc...

Dorabelle, Jeanette Lee makes more money in pool performing in exhibitions than she does in pool tournaments.

Are you just making a general statement about the nature of the world (through your eyes) or responding to Emily's post? I've read her post twice and don't see where she is objecting to being viewed as a sex object. Its quite obvious that much of her promotion is based on her sex appeal. Why shouldn't it be?

Thanks

Kevin

Odd, I am on here every day, I read and post quite regularly, and I am a little in the dark on this. I haven't seen what Ms Duddy is talking about.

I guess it depends on one's focus.

Can't argue with her defending her good name as well as those of her colleagues. At the same time I have to say: Welcome to the public eye.

The more prominent one gets, the more detractors one has. It's generally par for the course. The key IMHO is to handle it with poise. :) The best advice in such a matter would come from a PR professional.

A MESSAGE TO THOSE THAT LOVE POOL, EQUALITY, ENCOURAGEMENT & SUPPORT AND THOSE THAT HATE JUDGES, CRITICS, RAILBIRDS, HATERS, & COWARDS:

I'M SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE MANY FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FANS THAT SUPPORT ME IN MY POOL ENDEAVORS, BUT THERE HAS BEEN A GROUP OF HATERS ON WOMEN POOL PLAYERS THAT HAS NEVER BEEN CALLED OUT. WELL IT'S TIME FOR ME TO CALL OUT THESE NASTY PEOPLE AND ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO BRING PEOPLE DOWN!

OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS THERE HAS BEEN A PATHETIC GROUP OF HATERS & CRITICS ATTACKING WOMEN POOL PLAYERS ON PUBLIC POOL FORUMS, IT IS DISRESPECTFUL AND PATHETIC, IT IS IN POOR TASTE AND IT SYMBOLIZES THE WORST EGO IN THE POOL WORLD. IT TRULY EMBODIES ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASON'S OUR SPORT IS NOT MORE SUCCESSFUL.

The player's that have been attacked the most in these forums are Myself (Emily Duddy), Borana Andoni, and Jennifer Barretta. The 3 of us are great players, we continue to put in the time in on our game, we compete non-stop putting in our own $, and give back to other players, leagues, and charities as much as possible. We also put ourselves out there to further pool. We are not at the top of the ranking's yet, but every great player has a journey to the top. I think we are being scrutinized because we have been business savvy and taken opportunities made possible by our marketability. Well we are in America and that is how it works. The 3 of us are great people, with big hearts, who are generous and kind. We have talent, passion, and a determination to succeed. Yes we have gotten press, but that is because of who we are and what we stand for.

The list of our current titles, rankings, or stats is completely irrelevant. At the moment the pool world is working on becoming consistent, but up until now there is no good system for ranking players that are professional, men or women. The tours are inconsistent and struggling. The only way to help make that happen in the future is by sticking together!!!!

WHAT THEY CRITICIZE IS OUT OF IGNORANCE, JEALOUS, AND SPITE:

1.) They degrade the level of our play when most of them have no idea how we can play or what we are capable of. Maybe they saw a youtube video, maybe they saw one match, maybe they are going based off rankings or stats, maybe they saw one tournament. Whatever the case may be, no one knows the level of someone's game accept the player themselves. I'm so sick of all these critics and commentator's trying to sum up a player's skill level after watching them play one time. Maybe they had a bad or good match or tournament. It's so easy to sit on the sidelines, behind a computer screen or a television and judge. It is true ignorance. JEN, BORANA AND MYSELF HAVE PLAYED HUNDREDS OF TOURNAMENTS, PUT IN THOUSANDS OF PRACTICE HOURS, AND HAVE BEEN PLAYING/COMPETING FOR YEARS AND DECADES. HOW MUCH OF THAT DID YOU HATERS WATCH US PLAY? PROBABLY NONE!

2.) They bash the way we dress, promotional photos, and projects. We don't care if people don't like us or find us attractive. The truth is we are trying to add a new level of marketability to the world of pool. We are trying to push boundaries. We are doing our best to start new projects and to help the pool world grow stronger. But most importantly we are being ourselves and showing the world who we are. Maybe you should try it sometime and come out from behind your keyboard.

AS A POOL PLAYER OR A FAN OF POOL, IF YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE POOL WORLD PLEASE HELP SILENCE THESE DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE TOGETHER. THEY ARE HURTING THE SUCCESS OF OUR SPORT. IF YOU ARE HATER WILL JUST PLEASE STOP!

I AM A FAN OF FREE SPEECH AND IF YOU WANT TO START A FORUM ON ANY TOPIC OF YOUR CHOOSING THEN BY ALL MEANS, BUT WHY ARE YOU SO MISERABLE THAT YOU ARE ATTACKING PLAYERS BY NAME AND DEGRADING THEIR REPUTATIONS WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW THEM OR ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. WHATEVER YOU THINK YOU KNOW IS HEARSAY OR YOUR DISTORTED VIEW OF REALITY. WHY DON'T YOU TRY TO GET TO KNOW US FIRST. WE ARE VERY DOWN-TO-EARTH PEOPLE.

BOTTOM LINE IS THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS TO SUPPORT OTHER PEOPLE RIGHT NOW IN ORDER TO CAUSE POSITIVE CHANGE. THE POOL WORLD WILL NEVER GROW AND BECOME SUCCESSFUL IF WE ARE FIGHTING AMONGST OURSELVES.

Keep your head up!

Glad to see a lot of support for Emily and the girls here, and unfortunate to see the same haters from the other thread trying to bring her down.

We complain all of the time about the lack of attention that our beloved sport gets, and when someone comes along who can help bring ordinary peoples' attention to the sport, why would we want to trash them?

JP Parmentier's post put it best - Anna Kournikova brought more attention to tennis than many (or even all) of the other professionals at the time. The upside was that lots of people were paying a lot of attention to tennis. Was Anna a good tennis player? Absolutely. Would she have beat Venus Williams? Probably not, but who cares? If Emily/Borana/Jen are able to do the same thing with pool (bring mass amounts of attention, legitimacy and money), why would we have a problem with that?!?!

You girls keep shooting 'em straight and know that you have waaay more support here on AZB than detractors!

All the best,

Brian

Having a plan for the future and using and sound reasoning is just silly. You're obviously new to the innarwebz. Come back to this thread when you can be a sensationalist ass... sheesh ... newbies...

Look in the mirror...

The internet and our "liberal society" have allowed these types of people to thrive. Used to be a husband, boy friend, brother, uncle or friend would say enough of that and go teach them some manners. Our laws and society look down on that now days and we live in the age of the "wimp", coward and liar. Heck a bunch of them run our country. I am way older then you and came to the conclusion long ago that the only ones that can hurt my feelings are those I love and respect and claim as a friend. So that is a small circle. The most viscous and powerful dictators and rulers the world has ever seen could not shut people up unless they killed them. I know words hurt but please try to ignore the idiots and small people of the world. They are sick and just blowing germs your way when they run their suck. No one with any brains or moral fiber takes then serious. I love watching men and ladies pool. I have learned a lot from it and you girls look good when you play and make the game more interesting.

Dorabelle, Jeanette Lee makes more money in pool performing in exhibitions than she does in pool tournaments.

There was a time im told when she was getting 20k just to speak at a Corporate event.

So if a person does a sexy photo shoot but a lot of people don't find it attractive that's considered hating? She refers to herself as being a great player and people don't agree with her that too is being a hater?

Pretty immature to call someone a hater just because they disagree with you.

I don't really understand what the major problem is here?? Is she offended that people don't agree with her and blow smoke up her butt pretending she is better than she is? She is not a champion speed player, neither are the other girls. They may all have talent, and are on their way, but they aren't there...YET.

I love the female pool players. They are much more courteous than their male counterparts. I have bartended during many tournaments for both genders, and it isn't even close which one is more fun to put on. But, at the same time I would never try to act like the play at the tournaments is even comparable! My poolhall has had many of the top 20 females play in the Ladies Spirit tournaments, and though they are wonderful to be around they just for some unexplained reason don't play as good as the males do. As someone previosly stated, there are male shortstops in most big cities that would beg any of them to play except maybe one or two.
And despite all this *****ing and moaning, most of them know it. I've watched many of them turn down action, or ask for weight against local shortstops(and never match up at all). And, I'm talking about top 10 girls, who are known supposedly for action.

Please don't take me wrong, I don't know any of the 3 ladies in question, but I really just didn't get why she was so mad. And feel like you shouldn't call people haters for having a sense of reality. JMHO

Oh yea, and furthermore I am surely not hating on you making $$$$. Girl, if you can make it, make it.

keep doing what you do

Hi Emily, i have met you and you are so personable, kind and informative. i have the utmost respect for you and your game. it's a shame people have to pass judgement and criticize people on what they do when they don't even know them personally. bashing anyone male or female in a public forum pertaining to a sport on how bad one plays or their character is unprofessional, unethical and just immature.

So Emily please don't let these people get to you, i'm sure there are more admirers than haters. hopefully one day these haters will grow up and understand it is wrong for their words of hate.
take care and wish you the best.
Jimmy
