A none murdered animal cue please.

elephants are cool animals. but i think people aren't really following up on this "it's illegal to poach ivory" laws. sure people're buying it, people won't stop buying ivory until all the elephants are dead. you have to stop people from killing the elephants to get it. but i guess that would lead to ivory prices going higher and giving a bigger payout to those willing to risk killing the elephants to get it.

its a strange situation. all i know is i'm not going to avoid a cue with ivory, but i won't only buy one with ivory either.

I challenge you to prove it didn't die from natural causes... Touche
The fact that it's ivory is in a cue may be a good indication, however I can't prove it didn't die of natural causes.

Since a person can't tell the difference between legal and illegal ivory it would seem logical that the ethical stance would be not to buy ivory at all.

Don't you guys realize that they kill animals to make these cues....

They kill elephants to make your precious ivory cues... elephants are the most peaceful animals on this planet... they are herbivores and they don't harm other species... and yet humans kill them to make cues that could be made even more beautiful with out having to kill a utopia animal like an elephant.

Does no one care about this at all?

Poor elephants...

very sad.

Anyone knows good cues that aren't made with dead elephants? can you please suggest me a few if you don't mind? Thanks.

By the way, I'm not trying to insult anyone, i was just wondering if I'm the only one who cares?

All elephants used in cues were volunteers and filled out a organ donor card. They also died of natural causes or industrial accidents. Although my elephant skin shaft is a bit whippy, I may want to swap it to a wood one, but then the other posters that protect the rainforest would complain. Anyone use baby seal wraps? I hear they are soft and improve your game.

I did stop driving an any roads to protest the displacement of the grass, and don't buy anything in stores, they are taking up valuable old farm or tree area. I'm getting pretty hungry though and after I got fired from not driving to work it's tough to buy the natural soybean curd I need to eat to avoid harming the environment.

With so few circuses still around, how many elephants do we really need, twelve or fifteen?

Dave, I was supposed to find out what pool room you played at for a friend of mine that just moved to Saskatoon. Anyways, since I don't have any way of contacting him anymore, it's a mute point. if you ever run across a fellow named John Hasslof (sp?) aged 50+ (closer to 60) that plays pretty decent (even when he's hammered/baked).

He's a shorter, heavier guy with a mustache - you know typical Albertan good ol boy.

????????

To really make a post like this you would have to be a vegetarian. You've got leather wraps in anything frm calf-skin to reptile. Vegetarian no way, I love to eat a big steak. What about you??????????????????

I've never heard a mute point before James, but there's a first for everything :p ;) :D

If he's a pool hall affecionado then he'll figure it out rather quickly. There are only 3 halls worth visiting, Pacific (the best one here imo), Snooker Shack and Bad Beavers (owned by brothers, they run fine halls too), just in case John reads this. When are you coming to visit ?

Dave

<edit, don't know what's wrong with my head other than I really wanted to call James "Chuck" for some reason ... I need a few days off, thankgoditsfriday>

I never realized that they named an actual cue material after Efren.

Never heard of a mute point because they're mute.....

And a cute lookin chick over there in Indian Head I had fun with under a canoe.

Too much information ... now I'll be afraid to look under any canoes I see laying around, like the one in my back yard

Man, great thread.. Easily killed the last hour of this day and had me rolling throughout.. we have some very witty folks here!

Elforyn is from the almost extinct Elf family. They have been placed on the endangered list throughout the world. I do hope you have the proper paper work for the Elforyn. Also do not try to ship this out of the country. You just don't see many Elves anymore. I don't think I've seen one since the last time one put a quarter under my pillow in exchange for a tooth.

No no, this wasn't the tooth fairy. The tooth fairy only gave a dime. Elves always gave a quarter.

I thought most ivory was reclamied. Taken from somewhere else and reused in a cue. Ive got a leather wrap and i eat hamburgers does that make me a killer. Maybe, but im not gonna go vegan so why NOT have a leather wrap.

When I was on active duty we had a Female Chaplin who was a Professed Vegan. She was certainly a real nice lady and a great Officer. One day during a Staff Meeting she brought up her Views on being a Vegan. At which point I made it very clear to her that if we ever got trapped or ship wrecked during a deployment that she had hide. To this she responded WHY??? at that point I told her Vegans would be on the Menu!!!!  :D It was kinda funny and everyone laughed, even the Chaplin, however, she never did bring up her Vegan Views again!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

Actually this is a forum and i was under the impression that it was a place to share thoughts..

And also i did research it my friend, almost all the cues i looked for at a high price says Ivory.

I don't think I'm the bad gay here caring for a precious animal like an elephant.

It's a pool forum not a PETA forum.
