A pool reality show that actually made it?

Would appear to be the case: http://www.pilgrimstudios.com/news/trutv-orders-kings-of-cue/

"TruTV has greenlit a reality series about the worlds of billiards, as part of its ongoing push to program light comedy fare. Produced by Pilgrim Studios, Kings of Cue (10 x one-hour, working title) is about pool sharks who compete in New York City pool halls."

I never knew pool was light comedy fare?

Know how they have these "Celebrity Poker After Dark" shows? I always wondered how "Celebrity Billiards After Dark" would do. Take two Hollywood slaps, give 'em two weeks of coaching from known pros and put them on a table for an hour and play a race to five 8-ball or something. Air it after Letterman or something on a Friday night. Most awake at that hour are drunk or bored and wil watch anything anyways.

It sounds interesting. A lot can go sideways between greenlighting something and it actually making it on air. Hopefully the producers involved have the experience to pull it off.

This is true. Myself and a few other members of the forum (mikeyfrost, GMAC) and other members of the NYC pool community are involved as characters on the show. Met with producer last night, we start filming the first week of February and has an air date in April of 10 episodes. Things are looking pretty good. We'll see how it goes.

That's great. Please keep us updated as much as you can as it goes. An insiders view of these types of productions is always entertaining.

In before a bunch of old dudes tell us how this is ruining pool. Seriously good luck with this. Sounds like it could be a fun series.

Will we be seeing Tony barking at you?

I think the old dudes are just afraid that if pool evolves to be successful in the current age they will be left behind. I doubt any such thing is even possible. New people and new ideas just helps increase diversity and diversity is a key ingredient to survival.

Congratulations Andrew! TruTV is a good network with a large audience. Has to be good for Pool. Have fun and hopefully there will be a season two!

A lot of people have a lot of different ideas of what pool "should be" which explains why there are 18 leagues with 18 sets of rules on 18 sizes of tables. The people who have tried to "clean up" pool don't seem to realize pools biggest asset. Will this "save" pool? lol I don't even know what that means but I sure hear it a lot. This could be good for pool if it turns enough heads.

Awesome. TruTV is one of the channels I can stream live through my mother-in-law's Xfinity account so I'll actually be able to see it.

Congrats and good luck

Good luck! Sounds great.

You should match up with another pool player for gambling at push-ups.
